Estimated Costs for Undergraduate Student

The following is the estimated annual cost for international students attending South Dakota State University for
the 2013-2014 academic school year. Tuition, fees, room and board charges are subject to change by the South
Dakota Board of Regents without advance notice.

The Spouse and Child plan will not be an option from the Avera Health Plan due to the costs.
However, the Dependents (spouse or child) will be required to show proof of insurance. The
insurance will be required to be on file. SDSU will provide a list of recommended insurance
companies.
--Students should allow for personal expenses, which can run from $500 to $2,000 per year (depending on the
student)-*Mandatory University Insurance must be purchased through the South Dakota Board of Regents at
myhealth.sdbor.edu and not from another agency either in your country or in the United States. Please check
the site for updated rates and policy changes. Age is a factor for fees.

Additional considerations:
1. Financial certification must be provided to the International Affairs Office before and I-20 can
be issued.
2. Total yearly expenses constitute the amount which much be certified as available each academic
year for the total number of years of course study.
3. It is advisable to bring travelers checks/international credit card for immediate expenses of hotel, food,
transportation. The remainder of your money should be in the form of a bank draft made out to South
Dakota State University. The money will then be available to you in 48 72 hours. The bank draft must
have identification and routing numbers at the bottom that identifies a U.S. bank.
PLEASE NOTE: The budget figure of is currently what our students are paying during the 2013-2014 school year.
The budget for the 2014-2015 academic school year could see an increase of as much as 5 percent or more. The
final accurate figure for the 2014-2015 school year will not be known until at least July 2014.
