LO3:
The documentation linked to the production will be full and detailed and there will be
evidence that the production management and scheduling of the project has been effective
and carried out in a professional manner. The techniques used in the production of the work
are likely to be related to an understanding of current trends in the industry.
Planning
Brainstorm / mind map (add extra pages if necessary)
Treatment
My idea involves using three wooden art mannequins. Two of the mannequins start
of being in love and happy and then one day the guy mannequin sees the girl
mannequin with a different guy mannequin. He goes over and starts shouting at her
and the new guy mannequin starts beating up the other one and they walk off and
leave him half dead on the street. He then starts to lose everything and ends up
sleeping on the street. One day he starts to turn his life around and has a house and
a really good job. At the end you see him open his door and the ex-girlfriend is stood
outside the house begging him to take her back. Then it cuts out and you dont know
whether or not he will take her back or not. I cut it at the end so it leaves the viewers
to decide the ending they want to believe.
The way I am going to film the back ground is by using a lot of cardboard boxes and
add different back drops on them. When they are outside and sat in the town there
will be different backgrounds so the viewers will be able to see that they are in
different places. I will make seats for them to sit on out of jenga because it will be
able to hold their weight. The lighting I will use will depends on the mood that I am
trying to portray. When he is heartbroken and has nowhere to go I will make there be
less light so the viewers will understand that he is not in a good place. To show when
he was in a good place the lighting will be bright which the viewers will associate with
being happy. This makes the lighting a key part of my production for the viewers to
understand what is going on.
As I am doing a music video the music has try mellow in with the theme of love and
betrayal. The song also has to mean something to the viewers. The song I have
chosen is called with You - Jonah Johnson. I chose this song because it is from a
movie called my sisters keeper which is very emotional film which everyone feels
something for this film. So I thought by using this song it can bring a good amount of
emotion to the stop motion.

Discuss any legal issues you may face. Eg; sound, plagiarism, age restrictions
The music I am using might not be of a very good equality so I could have to take loads of
time trying to find a good enough quality. Also be using a song that isnt my own could be
plagiarism so I will have to email the company who made the song to ask them if its ok for
me to use it in my stop motion. The only age restrictions there would be is making sure
children under 11 dont watch it only because they might not understand what is going on
and could influence them to do bad things.
What are the different possibilities you could explore using this format?
Using stop-frame techniques allows me to change the angles of anything I want in shot.
Using found object lets me change them within the limits they are allowing me to move them.
As I am using found objects I can chose which object I want to use which means I could
choose ones that have easily moveable ones which will make my stop motion easier to
make then if I picked an object that has restrictions.
What imaginative or inventive animations have you seen which use this format?
Add in links and screen shots of three examples of animations using this format.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBjLW5_dGAM this short clip is called Western
Spaghetti by PES. They have taken every day object and making Spaghetti out of them.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3Ue1AXSzyw this clip is called Animated In Bed Wonderful Stop Motion. This stop motion is also using people.
Subject
What will the subject of your animation be?
The subject of my animation is a music video. My genre for my music video is romantic.
Storyline
Describe the storyline of your animation. What events will happen to your characters?
Theres one main character who is guy. He is in love with this girl character and it shows
them being all happy. Then he is walking in town one day and he sees her with someone
else. The main guy gets really angry and starts yelling at the girl then the other guy steps in
and starts beating the guy up. Then he is half broken on the floor. It takes a while for him to
get better again but when he gets his life back on track the girl mannequin decides to come
back into his life and the ending sense is him deciding whether to go for her or not.
Characters
What characters will be in your animation?
There will be three characters. Two guys and one girl.

lawyer. She is an only child. They spend their holidays either skiing
or in the sun.

Movement of characters
Mood board
Create a mood board showing what look your animation will have. Add images showing
ideas of mise-en-scene, characters, costumes and colours that will be present in the
different shots.
Sets / backgrounds
Will your set be;
A blue/green screen
An existing location
Draw sketches of how your sets/backgrounds will look. Add in labels to your diagrams and
details of locations / lighting etc.
Think of the scenes in your animation. Each scene should have different sounds/music to
give information about the mood / emotions of the characters.

Notes
Audience
Define the following characteristics of your audience;
Gender
There is no specific gender to my production but I feel some boys will be able to relate to it
more then to others.
Age
Over 16 because anyone under 16 probably wouldnt understand what is going on and might
influence them in the wrong ways.
Interests
The type of interests the audience would have are people who like going on walks and being
with there friends.
How will you ensure that your animation will suit your chosen audience?
I will do this by making sure that my animation doesnt become to violent or over the top
about anything specific topics. I will make my animation exciting and plain. I will tell an
interesting story to keep the audience attention.
How will they physically watch your animation? (i.e in an exhibition format, on screen,
projection, online?)
My animation will be available online. It will be on YouTube channels and Vimeo for people
who want to listen to the song can watch and they can enjoy my animation.
I sent out a survey monkey for people to tell me what age group they throught would be most
appropriate for. The results I got back were the ones I wanted because it was the same as the group
group I chose for it. They also wrote how it would be inappropriate for people under the age of 12
because they wouldnt understand it.

Frame Rates
What is the duration of your animation in minutes? (minimum 30 seconds)
My animation will be around 1 minute and 30 seconds
In seconds?
My animation will be 90 seconds long.
There are 60 seconds in a minute. How many frames (ie. Individual photos) will you
need to take?
For my stop motion I will use 15 frames per second because if I did any less it would look
any good.
Lighting Design
Where will you place your light source(s) to create interesting effects?
To make it interesting I could place the light source on the side of the production instead of it
hanging over. I could use this when guy 1 sees girl 1 with guy 2 to show how happy they are
together and how low guy 1 is.
(LO3)
Frame numbers
You will need to label your images as frames
The first 24 frames will be written as;
0_1
0_2 etc etc
Dope sheets
A dope sheet is an animation tool which helps a animator organise the animation shot-byshot.
This gives the camera operator instructions on each shot type and how many frames this will
be used for.
A dope sheet is usually split into 5 different sections.
For example;
Because you will be working with video, you will be using 30fps. You will need to complete a
dope sheet for EVERY SECOND of your animation.
i.e, if you make a 30 second animation, you will need to complete 30 dope sheets.
This will be a time-consuming task, but it will help you understand what will need to
happen in each of the shots you take. The higher marks will come from a detailed and
careful collection of dope sheets. For example, if your characters speaks, you will need to
show the mouth forming every shape in order to look effective.
