SENIOR PASTOR
Pade Ulead
‘As we say goodbye to 2016, we say an excited hello to the new year. We welcome home many of
our friends who have been up north. You have been missed!
This weekend, we begin our seasonal 11:00 worship service, music led by Dr. Stearns, choir,
and orchestra, which mirrors the 9:30 service. | will be preaching this week and most of the times
in this service. It is a challenge to preach in the existing Chapel service which is also at 11:00.
While we have video capability to play a high-quality recording of the previous night's message,
we would like to add a unique in-person element by having gifted staff members share the same
essential message by text and topic in the Chapel, while | am speaking in the Worship Center.
| will coordinate our study together, as folks will be able to hear not only some outstanding guest
speakers but also talented pastoral communicators. | will sometimes speak by video and also in
person in the Chapel through the season. Pray for us to have divine wisdom and favor of the Lord
as He “fulfills His purpose for us and does not forsake the work of His hands" (Psalm 138:8).
We also have the privilege this Sunday evening of ordaining and recognizing these
new deacons to serve the Lord and His church: Larry Beard, Amie Bischoff, Philip Fincher,
Luis Rodriguez, Jeremy Shelford, Roy Shoots, and Phillip Wall. After the intensive screening,
interviewing, and prayer, our various committees and deacon leadership presented these
names. They were affirmed by a church vote and will experience the “laying on of hands" in
prayer after we hear their personal testimonies. | will also give a brief biblical message.
This coming week, we begin new studies in Women's RefresHer and Men’s Band of Brothers.
The ladies will meet on Tuesday mornings and Wednesday evenings and will be studying
“Entrusted" by Beth Moore. The pastoral team and | will be teaching a study on little-known
names of the Lord with the theme “What's in a Name? Everything!” We will not only grow
through in-depth biblical study but learn to pray through some of the wonderful names of the
Lord. The great question that Moses asked of God, “What is Your Name?” must be answered.
When Jesus asked the Gadarene demoniac, “What is your name?" He snarled, "My name is
Legion, for we are many.” God's names are also legion in number and contrastingly speak of His
perfect purity, powerand love. Shakespeare in King Henry IV inquired, "I would that | knew where
a commodity of good names were to be bought!" By paying the price of study and application,
we find them in the Word and say, "Such a deal!”UPCOMING EVENTS ||
