2016 FINANCIAL STATEMENTS AVAILABLE

From the Pastor

Again we have winter weather; I hope the ice that is forecast

does not materialize, but we accept what comes. I have never
liked winter weather; even as a child I did not like doing chores
in the cold. Maybe it was the chores I did not like as much as
the cold weather; after all, I did go out to play in the cold. But
even then I did not enjoy the cold, my joke was I did not like to
shiver.
The Psalm response today is Here am I, Lord; I come to do
your will. We all have to ask: Am I really willing to do the will
of the Lord? Sometimes we are only willing when doing the
Lord's will is comfortable and we can enjoy doing what the Lord
asks of us. There are other times when we do not like to follow
the Lord because we are asked to sacrifice. For me it was a
sacrifice to go out into the cold to feed the cattle, but it had to be
done. It can be a sacrifice for us to go to Mass, or pray when we
don't feel like it, or hold our tongue when there is something
harsh that we want to say. We know life will be better for us if
we do these things we call sacrifice. There will be times when life
will be better for those around us too.
When we speak of sacrifice, we always think of Christ and
what he did for us. In His humanity, he went the limits, offered
His life because someone had to do it. We can make our own
lives better by our sacrifices; the someone who has to do it is us.
We come to do the will of the Lord.

The contribution statements for calendar year 2016 are in the

back of the Church, if you would please stop by and pick
yours up. Thank you for your generous giving this past year.
