8. DETAIL DESCRIPTION
FOR CALIBRATION OF
RE-TRANSMISSION
OUTPUT.
Retransmission output is required
to be calibrated at both Zero and Span.
Calibration is done at fixed point at 4mA
and 20mA.
For Retransmission output Calibration go
to RTRZ prompt in calibration mode, now
press INC or DEC key, this displays the
value of current 4mA (4.000 on display)
as output. Measure the output current at
this point on six times better accurate
measuring
instrument.
Adjust
the
current value at zero side using
increment or decrement key equal to the
value as seen on output current
measuring unit. Then press SET1 key to
enter the value. Repeat the same

masibus
procedure at the span at RTRS prompt.
On RTRS prompt, press INC or DEC key,
this displays the value of current equal
to 20mA (20.000 with digit 2 flashing).
Adjust this value equal to the value as
seen on the current measuring unit.
Then press SET1 key to enter the value.
After entering the current value at the
span, the unit under goes one shot
Calibration
of
output.
Now
the
Retransmission output is calibrated. For
One shot calibration both zero and span
calibration
is
to
be
carried
out
sequentially, one after another in one
shot.
RTRZ 4.000:
Retransmission zero output value 4mA.
RTRS20.000
(with
digit

value
20mA.
Note: Note during calibration of the unit
calibrate the ambient only if required.

9. COMMUNICATION PROTOCOL MODBUS-RTU DETAILS

INTRODUCTION
The unit can be connected in RS-485 communication data link either in multi drop
or repeat mode. Each unit must have unique Serial Number. Entire range of addresses (1
to 255) may be used. Before starting any communication, choose a baud rate compatible
to the host computer. The serial protocol used is MODBUS RTU.
Protocol details:
The function codes used Read Write of parameters are:
03. READ HOLDING REGISTERS (REFERENCE - 4x).For Read operation
06. PRESET SINGLE REGISTER (REFERENCE - 4x).For Write operation
The error checking field contains a 16-bit value implemented as two eight-bit bytes. The
error check value is the result of a Cyclical Redundancy Check (CRC) calculation
performed on the message contents.

Maintenance:

Dangerous voltages capable of causing death are sometimes present in this

instrument. Before installation or beginning of any troubleshooting procedures
the power to all equipment must be switched off and isolated. Units suspected
of being faulty must be disconnected and removed first and brought to a
properly equipped workshop for testing and repair. Component replacement and
interval adjustments must be made by a company person only.

12.

General Problems:

Unit does not Switch ON.

Check the Mains Cord.
I/P power may be not present. Check power supply voltage is it proper as per
order.

Reading indicated by Unit is unstable, wrong or open.

Check the process input and also check its connection are as per the backplate supplied.
Check the lead resistance of all the three arms of RTDs. All the three leads
should have same lead resistance. If no, change the cables.
Check the Input cables are properly tighten with back terminal.
Check for AC voltage pick up at the signal terminal.
All low-level input and output such as T/C, Rtd, Linear I/P and control signal
wires must be kept separate from supply and relay output cabling.

Communication Problem between the Unit and Host PC/Operator

Terminal.
Check the cabling.
Check the serial No. and baud rate settings at PC side and controller side.
Check the RS-485 to RS232 converter for 485 communication.
Check the serial port of the computer by shorting 2 and 3 no pin of PC
comports with PROCOMM, Hyper terminal or any other available application.
Check RS 232 RS 485 connection at PC and unit side.
For RS 485 sometimes terminating resistor of 120 at unit side. In most of the
cases this is not required for this model.

Unit Resetting.
Check the proper input terminal connection.

If Input Range is 0-5V or 1-5V then maximum voltage should be less than
10V & minimum voltage should be greater than -3V.

Supply Voltage.
Supply voltage should be given through a good isolation transformer. This being a
microprocessor based instrument, a massive voltage spike can damage it. A good
isolation transformer shields the instrument from such voltage spikes and surges.
All supply connections to final control devices such as contactors, solenoids etc.
must be taken directly from the supply and not from the supply terminals of the
instrument.
