Strainer Basket Reverse Engineering

Power Plant Services was contacted in February 2015 with a challenge of manufacturing a strainer basket. The prospective customer was in a forced outage so time was of an essence. After acknowledging OEM could not supply strainer within required Outage win- dow, customer shipped a sample to PPS for Reverse Engineering.

Reverse Engineering services provide a valuable alternative, an aftermarket source, for just about any part. Reverse Engineering customers get:

Fast delivery • Competitive prices • Precision parts • Experience

weeks; this is in half the time in which other competitors could deliver. PPS exceeded the customer’s expecta- tions as the customer commented that the product fit well. They also thanked the PPS team for saving them 4 weeks of generation time. PPS enjoys having happy customers!

Power Plant Services key factors in sup - plying this service include:

Product application knowledge

Understanding metallurgical prop -

erties Knowledge and application of

proper metrology (measurement methods) Ability to work from sample parts, prints, and manufacturing drawing

In this case, the parts measured 24 ¼”

OD x 23” ID and 19” tall with 756 strips

which were welded together.

PPS’

team recognized the strainer as being uniquely designed and was able to complete the project in less than 4
