Schlieffen Plan: Germany would march through Belgium into order to

attack the so though weak France (Paris) but failed. This was a plan
before the war, so Germany was already preparing for war.
Austria-Hungary pulls Great Powers into a dangerous conflict economic,
territorial and politicial issues.
Increase of nationalism in Europ
Young Bosnia, a secret organization which attempted to liberate BosniaHerzegovina and assasinated Franz Ferdinand of Serbia. Trigger the WW1
as the act of alliances come into act.
Russia:
Their was an alliance between Serbia and Russia. Austria threatened to
attack Serbia in 1914, Russia warned that it would mobilize its army on
Austria.
Alliance:
Why did France join the first world war?
France had an agreement with Russia to support them if they were
attacked.
Russia had an agreement with Serbia to help them if they were attacked.
Germany had an agreement with Austrian-Hungrarian Empire.
When Austria-Hungary on july 28,1914 declared war the Serbia, Russia
came to help Serbia through going to war with Austria-Hungary.
Ottoman Empire:
Crimean War 1853.1856, Ottoman Empire were fighting over the control
oer the Black seaa and over religious power.
Treaty of Paris which inclines that the Ottoman Empire has to give the
same rights to the muslims as to the Christians (France, Britain and
Ottoman Empire). Ottoman Empire didnt listen to what Britain and
France said and it ended up that the Ottoman Empire werent on the same
page as the British and the French. So Russia wanted to use the Black sea
as an excuse to expand its religious belief, but since the Black Sea was
closer to the Ottoman Empire they won and Russia lost.
Russian-Turkish war, Russians were seeking revenge after the defeat of the
black sea and the Russians defeated the Turkish.
The ottomans/Turks wanted back the lands that they lost in the previous
wars (Lost parts in Bulgaria, Serbia and Greece and Libya to the Italians)
and it ended up the Turkish signing a secret treaty with Germany as they
were also enemies Russia.
U.S.A: 1914:
Adopted the law of Isolation.

America sent in ships to aid Britain and France, however Germany sunk
their ships and this angered the Americans. Germany tried to convince
mexico to turn against USA and attack them, and in result USA declared
war on Germany on April 4th 1917.
