Description
A Blacksmith located in Majula. After unlocking his building, he will sell various items and reinforce
your equipment.
Location
Majula
You first encounter this NPC in Majula, locked outside of his shop. Once you buy Lenigrast's
Key from Merchant Hag Melentia and use it to open the shop, he will move inside. Once
there he'll say he needs time to set up and asks for you to return later. Resting at the
bonfire will settle him in and allow you to use his services.

The Titanite Shard stock will not replenish as you advance through the game until
advancing to the next NG+.
Location
The Lost Bastille
He is in the lower part of the Bastille, where three dogs guard a gate at the base of a long
staircase, which has an explosive barrel and a large enemy at its peak.
You can enter McDuff's room in the following ways:
The Bastille Key will allow you to simply open the door.
Push the explosive barrel down the stairs to destroy the weakened wall to the left of the
door, revealing a bonfire and the rear entrance to McDuff's smithy. (If the barrel does not
explode on its own, you can simply nudge it into place and detonate it yourself with
a Firebomb. May be able to set off barrel with any weapon that does fire damage. This
method requires further testing.)

Notes
You must light the brazier in his room to make him move away from the chest he is sitting
on.
You must hand him the Dull Ember, which is located in the Iron Keep, to make him offer
his services to you.
After spending 14,000 souls on his services (like repair and weapon infuse, not buying
items) he will gift you a Titanite Slab by using the "Talk" option in his expanded menu. This
unlocks the Smith For Life achievement/trophy.
It's unclear how McDuff is able to use the ember, as Blacksmith Lenigrast states that the
art of using embers to fortify weapons was lost long ago.
Weaponsmith Ornifex
Dark Souls II Wiki NPCs Merchants Weaponsmith Ornifex
Description
A large harpy, similar to the ones found in the Painted World of Ariamis in Dark Souls 1. A
blacksmith capable of imbuing souls to equipment, creating unique items based on the soul's
original owner, a skill which she claims was inherited from a strange pale beast that inhabited the
land long ago.
Location
Found locked in an underground cave, below the false floor. Requires the Fang Key from the
petrified lion statue near the bonfire to free her. You must exhaust all of her dialogue to get her to
move.
Will move here once freed. Is found in the room next to the third bonfire (the one where the
candle is the only thing lit in the room).

lower value, he will still talk to you.
Description
A famed sorcerer from Melfia. He spent much time honing his sorceries in one of Melfia's renowned
academies, but he argued that academies were terrible places to learn magic and set out for
Drangleic, a land in which the forces of magic and souls lie dormant.
He was the master of Rosabeth.
Location

Found on the middle dock, on the other side of the dock with the ship.

Head Of Vengarl
Dark Souls II Wiki NPCs Merchants Head Of Vengarl
Description
The better half of Vengarl of Forossa, a towering killer infamous enough to murder his way to the
top in a country full of cutthroats. After some unknowable incident in the witchtree forest
separated Vengarl from his body, the latter stomped off on its own to continue the carnage.
After untold years of sitting motionless in a pile of skulls, he mellowed out and found some
measure of contentment. Vengarl is now of the most sane and even-keeled company to be found
in Drangleic these days. It's still a wonder how he's in any condition to sell things.

In combat, she uses Wrath of the Gods, Blinding Bolt, a Lightning Spear-like miracle and a healing
miracle with a very fast cast time. She can also melee with her chime.
Note that her Wrath of the Gods does physical damage instead of lightning damage.
The Profound Still hex is very useful when fighting her, as it will stop her from casting any of her
miracles.

Notes
If attacked and not killed in the Tower of Flame, Licia will not help you open
the Majula entrance to Huntsman's Copse.
Entering the rotunda with the Crushed Eye Orb, and the four great old ones defeated, will
cause the item to "tremble". You may then use the orb to invade Licia's world. She
concedes that the player has "found her out" and becomes hostile. If defeated she drops
the Soothing Sunlight miracle, a full Saint's set, an Idol's Chime and the Rotunda
Lockstone. Be warned that invading and defeating her in this manner still counts as Sin.
Her name seems to be a typo, multiple times throughout the game Lindelt is spelled
Lindelt and not Lindeldt. It is unknown which one is the correct version.
If going for the Gathering of Exiles trophy/achievement, do not kill her when you meet her.
She is one of the NPCs required for the trophy.
She will give the player the Saint's set and an Idol's Chime if they talk to her while having
30 Faith.
She will sell an infinite amount of her Miracles after entering the Shrine of Winter.

When 10,000 souls have been spent in her shop, she will give the Covetous Silver Serpent
Ring +1.
After clearing the Lost Bastille, she will give a free Radiant Lifegem.
If attacked, her punches instantly curse the player, if they don't have a Curse Resist of 150
or higher, enabling her to repeatedly inflict curse with each punch.
Sadly, once dead, she does not sell her own set and doesn't acquire new sets anymore.
Rosabeth Of Melfia
Dark Souls II Wiki NPCs Merchants Rosabeth Of Melfia
Description
Rosabeth of Melfia is the petrified NPC who is blocking the switch which opens the way to
the Shaded Woods. After you free her from her state using a Fragrant Branch of Yore, she will
become a Pyromancy merchant. She will move to Majula permanently if you offer her a set of
apparel to wear instead of the rags you find her in.
Keep in mind, that pressing the switch she was in front of will cause monsters to spring from the
doorways above and rush you, as well as a Basilisk to appear in the large doorway which opens
behind her. This assault could easily cause you to accidentally strike Rosabeth and kill her, so
even if the enemies don't attack her initially, make sure you are prepared to protect herat least
from your own clumsy sword-swinging!
Alternatively, you can exhaust her dialogue, rest at a bonfire or save-quit and reload game, and
come back to pull the lever without fear of hurting Rosabeth.
The ambush can be simplified by shooting out the doors above the room with arrows, making the
enemies come out one at a time.
Location
Majula
Found next to Benhart of Jugo in the ruined gatehouse.
After receiving clothing she moves to the base of the large monument in Majula.

An unknown corrupted sorcerer found locked away in Aldia's Keep, claiming to be an infamous
heretic from the pages of history. Navlaan and everyone who knew his name were put to death
long ago, so who is he?
General Information

NOT activate if you free him.)
Pulling the lever in Aldia's keep will release him, allowing you to be invaded by his
'corrupted' side in various locations. (NOTE: He will invade whether you are human or
hollow if you speak to him after freeing him.)
He will sell you his wares in hollowed form only if you've completed his quest line and have
not released him.
He will sell you his wares in human form only if you've released him.
Turning in items for his assassination quests does not discard the item.

peace. However, as time went on humans lost sight of what really mattered, and their insatiable
greed eventually led to bigger and grander explorations underground, causing many an innocent

A victim of the Undead Curse who traveled to Drangleic in the usual way, for the usual reasons,
only to realize that the cure he sought was not so easily obtained. Saulden lost the will to continue
his quest and settled down in Majula, where he spends his days wallowing in misery. He still has
good advice on offer, however, and heads the Drangleic chapter of the Way of Blue - a Covenant
which provides protection and guidance to Undead travelers newly arrived in the kingdom. While
the bleak and desolate landscape of Majula only serves to deepen Saulden's sadness, livening up
the town by bringing some new residents will raise his spirits considerably.
He will initially provide you with some information on the town and the surrounding areas as well
as some basic lore; speaking to him later in the game when you've triggered more NPCs to move
