Statement on PM Trudeau promotional tour stop in Fredericton
It is clear that the Liberals are hoping to present this as Santa Claus coming to town. In the last 10 days
over $350 million in taxpayer funded, federal-provincial spending announcements have been held.
I watched the town hall from Peterborough and some excellent economic and fiscal questions were
asked of the Prime Minister. Predictably he danced around them and provided no answers or concern
about the sky-rocketing debt of our nation due to reckless and relentless spending.
Hopefully, in Fredericton Trudeau will be questioned and challenged on his carbon tax and advised that
we are already meeting our nationally set targets in New Brunswick. It is also of real concern that he is
willing to place Canada at a major economic disadvantage to the US, our major trading partner, who
have not and do not appear to be moving in the same direction. I also hope that someone will tell him
that the Gallant government has already raised taxes by over $500 million dollars per year, we have the
highest personal income taxes in the country and that New Brunswickers simply can't afford any more.
Canadians are being forced to pay more so governments can waste more. This is an ongoing Liberal
phenomenon both federally and provincially.
