Taoist Morality

SOME TAOIST RULES OF MORALITY

1. The greatest sin is to believe that sin really exists.

2. Spiritual ignorance is the greatest sin.

3. It is a sin to be unreasonable.

4. It is a sin to be selfish.

5. It is a sin to be greedy.

6. Rape is a sin.

7. Murder is a sin.

8. Child abuse is a sin.

9. Avarice is a sin.

10. Be in the flow, and sin will go.

11. It is a sin to be obedient to authority.

12. It is a sin to reject reasonable authority.

13. It is good to love, but, do not let love destroy you.

14. It is a sin to be a martyr.

15. Gluttony is a sin.

16. Doing cocaine is a sin.

17. Doing heroin is a sin.


18. Meditation is good.

19. Hypocrisy is the worst sin.

20. As a general rule, moderation is good.

21. Detachment is good.

22. Detachment is present when you are attached to every good thing.

23. If you hate good food, then you should eat good food.

24. Drink alcoholic beverages in moderation.

25. It is a sin to get drunk.

26. It is good to have friends.

27. It is impossible to find a good friend.

28. A good spouse is a treasure.

29. It is rare to find a good spouse.

30. The vocation to the single life is good.

31. It is good find solitude.

32. It is not good to be lonely.

33. Absolute evil does not exist.

34. Absolute good does not exist.

35. Relative good and relative evil exist.

36. Spiritual children are a gift.

37. Do not teach a child to be good, but instead teach a child to avoid evil.

38. Evil is a lessening of the good.

39. Seek the Individual Good for yourself.


40. Your Individual Good is the first and most important aspect of the Common Good

for you.

41. It is impossible for a Taoist to be mentally ill.

42. Is good to realize that the Tao precedes God.

43. It is good to realize that the Tao is go and the Tao is flow.

44. The Tao can never be fully described in words.

45. Avoid both morality and immorality, and instead be amoral.

46. Do not seek status. Do not seek humility. Instead seek to be your True Self.

47. The only sin worse than pride is humility.

48. Be assertive and not arrogant.

49. Be assertive and not selfless.

50. Be good without personal sacrifice.

51. It you know God, then, you will no longer have to believe in God.

52. If God is your authority, then God is your enemy.

53. Seek to have God as your friend and guide.

54. Most religious authorities are evil.

55. If you choose evil as your binding spell, then, evil will destroy you.

56. If you choose God as your binding spell, then God will destroy you.

57. It is good to be a wise politician.

58. An honest politician is rare.

59. It is a is a sin to be a corrupt politician.

60. The highest and best goal of a community is the Individual Good of its members.

61. It is good to be an Existentialist.


62. It is good to be a Transcendentalist.

63. Conventional Morality is evil.

64. Community morality is evil.

65. If you reject your family, then you will find your true family.

66. Seek to make the world a better place.

67. If you love too much, then you will find trajedy.

68. Seek to live a simple life without poverty.

69. Materialism is a serious sin.

70. Seek to run and do not jog.

71. It is better to walk on the Astral Plane than in sensate reality.

72. Seek to fit in without conforming..

73. It is a sin to be a sycophant.

74. Be yourself without being selfish.

75. If you live probabilistically then you can only die probabilistically.

76. Do not live in space and time, do not live outside of space and time, instead live

in Space-Time.

77. When living in Pennsylvania, it is wise to be a Nebraska Cornhusker football fan.

78. When living in Nebraska it is wise to be a Nebraska football fan.

79. Seek to be yourself, not another person.

80. Only fools live an ascetic lifestyle.

81. It is better to be tall, than to be short.

82. The wise person pays Protection to God, not to the mafia.

83. Join the mafia only if you wish to have a cursed life and want to die young.
84. If you are in the Tao, the fruit from the tree can be caught by you when it falls

from the tree branches.

85. If you are not in the Tao, you will only find rotten fruit on the ground.

86. The Tao teaches you that it is rare to find a mentally ill person on a psychiatric

ward.

87. The Tao teaches you that most psychiatrists are mentally ill.

88. It is rare to find a good Spiritual Director.

89. A good Spiritual Director is a Guide and not a counselor.

90. In the Spiritual Life, seek a goal such as Wisdom.

91. Wisdom without reason fails, and, reason without Wisdom fails.

92. The only sin worse than violence is non-violence.

93. The Poor in Spirit have great Spiritual Wealth.

94. Do not seek to be either materially poor nor seek to be materially wealthy.

95. Do not seek Heaven. Do not seek Hell. Instead, flow into Purgatory.

96. Only a fool goes to Heaven.

97. Only an idiot goes to Hell.

98. Satan does not really exist, but, demons do exist.

99. Blest are those who know Infinity.

100. Forgiveness is a questionable virtue.

101. Avoid being a door mat.

102. Avoid being a bully.

103. It is good to lead a reflected life.

104. Every person is entitled to a reasonable wage for the work he or she does.
105. If you are a landlord, avoid raising the rent, unless you absolutely have to.

106. Every person and business is entitled to make a reasonable profit.

107. It is a sin for a business or corporation to make more than

a reasonable profit.

108. A corporate shareholder is only entitled to a reasonable

return on investment.

109. It is evil for a business to attempt to maximize short term profit.

110. It is good for a business to attempt to maximize long term profit.

111. Keep a good, experienced employee, and give him or her a raise.

112. It is a serious sin for a person to discriminate against another person based

upon an arbitrary or irrational category or classification.

113. It is good to believe in Santa Claus.

114. It is good to celebrate Christmas.

115. It is a serious sin for a person to receive a Christmas Present who does not

believe in the Christ Child and Santa Claus.
