Battery-driven Rail Car Mover Training - Hands On

MODEL B-MAXI XL from Railquip Inc.

1.SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Only authorized properly trained persons are permitted to operate machine and that person
needs to read and understood operating instructions provided by manufacturer, Railquip Inc.
Before using the vehicle responsible supervisor must be informed.
Operators needs to be aware of all potential hazards:
-Rail Car Mover have moving parts which have sufficient force in motions to cause injury to
operator and people in the immediate vicinity.
-As a non mechanical hazard people are at risk of injury due to controlled high voltage in the
Rail Car Mover drive system and regarding to that operators needs to be especially cautious
at startups or when they connect to power supply to charge battery's.
-Since operator use remote controller to operate he can be in the vehicle (in the cabin) or can
walk beside vehicle and should be aware of all potential obstacles on the ground or on rail
tracks. Using of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is required.

2.PRE-OPERATIONAL INSPECTION CHECKLIST


Needs to be done and signed.

3.OPERATING ELEMENTS
This Rail Car Mover use Radio Remote Control
Operator use Remote Control Sender unit (controller) to move/mount and dismount vehicle
from tracks and operate with winch and coupling device.
Emergency push buttons are located on the vehicle and on controller as well. Controller is
also equipped with 4x45 degree angle-dead men switch.

4.OPERATION
Operator should fill Pre-Operational Inspection Checklist and follow all steps from Operating
Instructions (hereinafter refereed to as OI) provided by Rail Car Mover manufacturer.

-Operator check all following issues before using the Rail Car Mover, described in detail in
section 5. of the OI appendix 5.1 Inspection before use
- Emergency Stop needs to be activated in case of emergency, follow instruction from section
5. of the OI appendix 5.1.1. Emergency Stop
- Driving Speed Pre-Selector allows to chose speed limitation, section 5. of the OI appendix
5.1.2 Reducing Driving Speed
Operator use Remote Control Sender unit (controller) to operate with vehicle. While operating
operator can be inside (in the driving cabin) or outside of the vehicle. In the driving cabin the
safety belt always has to be fastened.

5. EMERGENCY OPERATION
The emergency operation is operation with combinations malfunctions and failures that
requires immediate action to return vehicle in derivable position or prevent further damages to
the equipment or the objects close to.
All steps and instruction are explained in the section 6. of the OI appendixes

6. REGULAR MAINTENANCE WORK


This Rail Car Mover is battery-driven and battery's must be recharge regularly and operators
must adhere to Operating Instruction section 7. appendix 7.2 Charge battery
Winch battery's are the regular car battery's and should be maintained and recharge by the
manufactured specification from the label attached to the battery itself.
