Holy Baptism
In Newcastle on Sunday 20th June;
Ava Sandra, daughter of Richard and Arlene Cullen, Oakfield House, Killough, Bray.
Congratulations to Richard and Arlene. We pray that Ava will bring you lots of happiness
and grow up to honour the promises made for her at baptism.

Wedding
In Calary Church on 3rd June, Walter John Armstrong and Sharon Jennifer Crean, 1
Ashwood, Roundwood, Co. Wicklow. Very best wishes to Walter and Sharon as they
begin this new stage in their lives. We wish them every happiness and blessing and extend
heartiest congratulations to them both.

Sympathy
We offer our sympathy to Noel Langrell and his family on the death of Noel’s wife Lil. Lil
was buried in Roundwood on 14th May.

Confirmation;
The newly painted and refurbished Church at Newcastle looked wonderful and was very
tastefully and appropriately decorated for the Confirmation Service on 13 June. Twelve
young ladies made their public commitment to follow Jesus Christ and were confirmed by
the Archbishop. We welcome these beautiful young people to be fully and actively
involved in the life of our Parishes and hope they will each make a positive effort to help
us build a better future for the generations yet to come. Please pray for all our young folk
and ask for God's guidance as we endeavour to have a community which tries to be
relevant to each age group.

Tuesday Club
Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, July 13th when we have been invited to have tea in
Elizabeth Evans’ garden at the Gate Lodge of Kilruddery House. We will meet there at
3pm but if anyone needs a lift will they please contact Ann on 2812145.
We look forward to seeing you there as we missed last month’s meeting. All welcome.

Coffee in the Cottage

Coffee in the cottage will continue during the summer months. If you are free any Tuesday
morning between 10.30 and 12.30 please drop in for a cuppa and some chat. €2

Leisurely Lunch
Lunch in the cottage will be on Thursday 15th July from 12.30pm. €5 a head. All welcome
- just let Karen or Clodagh know in advance if you hope to be there!

Congratulations to Ben Russell who has been invited by the National Symphony Orchestra
to sing with them in the National Concert Hall (main auditorium) at lunchtime on Tuesday
27th July 2010 as part of the RTÉ Summer Lunchtime Concert Series. Tickets are €10
each, seating is reserved.
Choir News
Many thanks to Jack and Giles Smyth for the splendid carpentry they did on the choir
stalls and screen. Having a pew on the organ side for the men of the choir makes such a
difference to the sound and ensemble. In the old arrangement the men got a bit lost hiding
at the back of the south transept.
A very special thank you to the choir members who worked so hard all year. Since January
we have sung 10 different anthems, 5 pieces of music for the Communion service, 1
canticle, 2 Psalms and The Litany. We are building up quite a repertoire and I’m very
pleased that the sound and expertise of the choir is improving all the time.
The Choir will now have a well deserved break until September. We will start rehearsing
for Harvest on Monday September 6th in Newcastle Church. I would be delighted to see
some new faces particularly basses or tenors.

Calary Notes

A walk around part of the parish boundary was held on Sunday 6th June. It was a little
damp but enjoyed by all. Many thanks to Geoff and Ethni Seymour for providing coffee
and lunch on the day.

Two of the stained glass windows in Calary Church look very well now after being
refurbished last month.

St. Francis. N.S.

School closes for the summer holidays at 12 noon on Wednesday 30th June. This year we
are saying goodbye to nine 6th class pupils - Gráinne Allen, Thomas Keogh, Kate
McCormack, Katie Noonan, Sophie O'Neill, Emily Pike, Sophie Reboul-Geraghty, Emily
Thompson and Saoirse Yuan. We wish them every happiness and success for the future as
they move on to the next stage of their education.
For those returning to St. Francis' N.S next year the 2010/2011 school year will begin on
Tuesday 31st August. In the meanwhile we hope that all pupils and their parents will have
a great summer.
