Then there comes the ball joint for our rescue & our decision of adjustable susp

ensions arms length proved its worth. We know

that being a new team manufacturing errors are inevitable , but proper future pl
anning can tackle with any errors. We have used
ball joints at the knuckle mounting of suspensions arms that can be screwed or u
nscrewed in order to get required toe and camber
adjustments. Now with the help of fine tuning of all the three ball joints simult
aneously we were trying to limit the bump and
rebound travel. But this fine tuning was not really fine in reality and it is tak
ing humongous amount of night out efforts to
synchronize conflicting parameters like toe , camber , ride travel and newly int
roduced parameter from transmission team .
But all these problems were not going to loosen our hopes, instead we come up wit
h new solutions and planning to tackle all these.
Now we are learning the real meaning of baja lifestyle.During days we have to at
tend our regular lectures and tireless nights
are devoted to handle newly arised problems.
Meanwhile our designing and manufacturing team was working on sheat metal knuckl
e and new casted knuckle were on their way from
Jaipur. The arrival of new knuckles brought the relief of perfection in Kingpin i
nclination and suspension arms joints.
But our happiness was limited to only few days and the casted knuckle broke duri
ng testing . So we are resort to our previous
sheat metal knuckles which didnt let our hopes down and worked soundly during th
e entire endurance race without any breakdown.
14th feburary was the date of dispatching our baja to Indore and it was getting
close and so our testing period.
Suspensions worked great during testing .Our bump steer , camber and toe change
all were close to our theoretical values.
Even on big rocks and bumps our vehicle mangaged to remain stable and our expens
ive Fox suspensions prove their forte .
But our work was not over there and rear wheels started to show noticeable cambe
r and toe change. With change of bushings and
use of nylon lock nuts these issues were also solved.
Amidst of all these there is one thing which continues to prevail - The slipping
of CV axle from the gearbox during extreme travel
Just 3 days were left for the final packaging and we have come with a idea of us
ing restrainer to limit the suspension travel. So in
one night we build a new pair of restainer and placed them at the right place ,
with these our vehicle is now ready to go on any bump
without slipping of CV axle . The further testing proved us right and our vehicl
e managed to remain stable in sharp turns and high bumps
with good ride comfort.
The night of dispatching came and all the spare parts along with alternatives ar
e packed.
