Ever since its inception in 1955, IBA has sought to maintain its position as the premier
business institution in Pakistan. The students of IBA have achieved success in various fields
and continue to make their presence felt in both, the domestic and international arenas. IBAs
vision is:
To be among the best learning institutions in Pakistanrecognized for
developing potential leaders, nurturing a vibrant community of scholars and
practitioners, generating innovative ideas, and promoting creative solutions that
address the needs of Pakistan, the region, and the global community.

IBA IQRA Society


IBA IQRA Society is a student club that endeavors to educate the youth about Islam for a holistic development
of the society. Its vision is to inculcate Islamic practices in the student body through active learning and
imparting religious knowledge by learned Islamic scholars.
In pursuit of this vision, the society has accomplished much in its short history. We take pride in the fact that
the IBA IQRA Society is the only society that stands for and promotes religious ideology, hoping to impart the
correct image of the religion of Islam. Iqra Society believes in celebrating the religious diversity in our culture
and in giving room to each individual to thrive in a harmonious environment.
The IBA IQRA Society holds several events throughout the year, including a special weekly girls talk, monthlies
in which speakers of global repute are invited, in the hope to induce global harmony amongst the diverse
facets of Islam.
With its flagship event Annual Islamic Conference, that has been a success for the past 6 years now, IQRA
society is able to make a larger impact on the community within IBA and outside.
With the same aim, IQRA now introduces IIST, the one-of-its-kind tournament, which is full of competitions,
fun and interactive learning sessions.

The IBA Inter-Scholastic Tournament


The IBA Inter-Scholastic Tournament set to take place from 9th February,

2017 to 12th February, 2017, follows the concept of Muslim


Inter-Scholastic Tournament which consists of annual Regional
Tournaments for high school students in the United States and Canada.

T O U R N A M E N T

The IBA Inter-Scholastic Tournament would be a fun, educational and


interactive program of competitions and workshops geared towards
bringing students across schools, colleges and universities together from
around the city to develop leadership, communication, and other creative
skills, all while gaining a deeper understanding of our Lost Legacy
The 7th century to 13th century is termed as The Islamic Golden Age, during which Muslim rulers established one of
the largest empires in the history.
This was an era where Muslim Rule spread as far as Europe and the Subcontinent. This was a time when the Muslim
world became a major intellectual center for science, philosophy, medicine and education. This was the age of Glory
for the Muslims.
But todays despondent condition of the Muslim Ummah is a far cry from the Ummah of the Golden age.
Thus, IIST 2017 aims to uncover what has changed using a competition based approach where the tournament will
take the participants on a tour de force through the Islamic History, in order to help inculcate a sense of pride and
honour for this legacy. And also to establish a link between the Islamic Legacy and its contemporary relevance.

The tournament will take place on

9th - 12th February, 2017,


with tentative timings from 9 am to 4 pm, including lunch and Hi-tea.

Target Audience Profile


With IBA Inter Scholastic tournament, the host team intends to take the tournament to
students in our community who aspire to learn about Islam, yet want to enjoy their time
searching for the truth. Our target audience can be classified based on the following criteria:
SOCIO DEMOGRAPHIC |

IISTs core target market belongs ages between 17 to 24, i.e. university & high

school students.
PSYCHOGRAPHICS | In general, IIST aims to cater to students from SECs A and B, who are passionate
about competing, have a keen interest in Islam & learning about new things.
GEOGRAPHIC | IISTs main target market is students from Karachi.
UNIVERSITIES

With a strong theme based competition, IIST targets keen students from all top tier

universities such as NED, CBM, KU, SZABIST etc.


SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES | Students who aspire to become part of the larger Islamic community and
also aspire to join IBA will be exposed to a side of IBA not yet known to them; IBA has a religious society
working towards peacefully promoting Islam.

The grand event offers several opportunities for companies to showcase and promote their brands. With a total outreach of nearly
300 people, not to mention IBA's own student community that touches 4500, IIST would surely provide a handsome return on

the Facebook page of the IBA IQRA
Society will also be used for
branding purposes.
