Remember in Prayer
BY
CALEB
I can recall, with great detail, being disciplined by my parents when I was a child. As my family
would gather around the dinner table to discuss our day, share stories, and simply enjoy one
anothers presence, there were standards we had to keep. If we (my older brother, younger brother,
or I) would misbehave, punishment was bound to come. In this scenario, when we would misbehave
at dinnertime, we had to put our noses in the corner. What was so awful about having our nose in
the corner was that while everyone else was at the dinner table enjoying the meal, we were stuck in
the corner and our food was getting cold.
Though that is an awful thing to have happen to a starving young kid like me, that was not even
the worst part. (I say starving because my comeback went something like this, But Mom, I dont
want to put my nose in the corner. Im starving!) The absolute worst part was hearing the
conversations that were going on behind me.
Throughout my whole life, I have always been very interested in what is going on around me. I have
always been curious. I have always been, what some may even call, nosey. And, growing up, I
loved to talk. Im still the type of person who will talk to myself if no one else is around.
So, there I was in the corner mumbling to myself because I wanted to be a part of the dinner
conversation. And, alas, the never-ending punishment was lifted. The soothing sound of Caleb,
you can come back to the table now, only if you promise to behave.

As I child, I could have stayed out of the corner, if I chose to behave and keep with the standards
set in place. The same is true with the presence of God today. If I want to remain in His presence, I
must know what He requests from me and uphold it.
With love,
Caleb Taylor

When I think about it, thats how it is to be apart from the Lord and His church. We can see (or, in
my case, hear) what is going on around us, but were not really a part of the presence of family. We
are blinded by the darkness of a corner, we have no freedom, we have no direction in which we can
move forward, and we are in isolation from the rest of our family.
Dont find yourself living life separated from your church family! Dont be blinded by the darkness
of a corner in which you continually put yourself. God loves you, and your church family loves you,
so follow Him, today!
