    This is a critical thinking approach in analysing sources or historical texts. In the first column 'connect', a pupil is expected to use previous knowledge of an issue/topic or personality to connect with the current sources or text. This build up of knowledge will allow the pupil to extend his understanding of that issue or personality into more enriching realm and he will then be able to challenge his current understanding or knowledge to even venture into further realm of knowledge.
