Mandla is a six-month-old boy whose mother reports that he has recurrent chest infections
diagnosed as bronchitis. He has a nocturnal cough, which is sometimes associated with
wheezing.

What is the differential diagnosis for Mandlas complaints?

You find out in the history that Mandla has these symptoms only when he has a viral infection, but
is otherwise well in between the episodes of viral infections. There is no family history of asthma.

What is the likely diagnosis in Mandla?

Mandla has been on the advised therapy for six months, the mother says that he initially improved
but is now having coughing and wheezing even without viral infections.
