Course Objectives
Understand the concepts, rules, and conventions of engineering drawings.
Read and understand engineering drawings and CAD models of an existing design.
Use CAD software for the modeling, simulation and analysis of a design, and to
produce engineering drawings describing the design
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be
1). able to read and understand mechanical drawings and CAD models of existing design,
2) proficiency to use CAD software for product modelling, drafting, and analysis,
3) with basic knowledge of product design and manufacturing process, and
4). able to carry out simple product design in a team.

Overview of engineering graphics, computer-aided design/drafting; Orthographic


views, Isometric and perspective projection; Sections and cutting planes;
Auxiliary views; Dimensioning; Tolerances; Screw threads; Working drawings;
Some basic guidelines in product design.

No late submission! Late homework will not be accepted and/or graded.


Please be on time. Due date for homework will be specified. Appealing on
assignment submission/grade will NOT be entertained one week after the
release of that assignment grade.

Project

At least 20% among 50% from the project is required for passing this course.
