Unit: In Cold Blood

Lesson: Jeopardy
Academic Standard(s):
Standard - CC.1.5.11-12.F Make strategic use of digital media in
presentations to add interest and enhance understanding of
findings, reasoning, and evidence.
Objective(s)/Essential Question(s):

Students will demonstrate that they are retaining information


from the whole novel, not just what we are currently focusing on.

Materials Needed:

Jeopardy Power Point


Whiteboards
Markers
Internet
Projector
Laptop
60 copies of In Cold Blood
Students
Wipes to clean the boards

Motivational Device/Bell Ringer:


There wont be one due to the time necessary for this lesson
Lesson Outline:

The lesson will start with an outline of the rest of the week
o Reading quiz on Tuesday
o Vocab quiz on Wednesday
Then we will separate into 9 groups of 3 (about)
Each group will be given a whiteboard and a marker.
After the supplies are passed out I will explain the rules for
Jeopardy and then we will begin.
o Each team will be given a white board on which to right
their response to the question

o Once all teams have written down an answer I will ask


them to hold the boards in the air so I can see the
response.
Teams cannot change answers once all the boards

are up in order to cut down on cheating


The team that comes in first will get X number of points towards
their quiz grade 2nd place will get Y number of points and 3rd
place with get Z number of points.

Reflection:
The students absolutely loved this lesson. It was interactive and helped
them review the novel. They were all engaged and taking part in the
lesson. It also let me see who was doing the reading and who was
behind.
