Our Services
Vision Elevators has a wide range of service offerings that are
designed to satisfy our customers specific needs. Whether you
have an existing Vision product or a product not supplied by
Vision, our team of professionals is willing to assist.

Our service offerings fall into the following

main categories:
Maintenance
Vision Elevators has a dedicated maintenance department to
oversee the maintenance activities of the units installed by Vision
Elevators as well as those units we have not installed but still
require reliable service providers. The responsibility of
maintaining the unit in accordance with the OHS Act can be
transferred to Vision Elevators on the signing of a maintenance
agreement.

Vision offers 2 types of maintenance agreements:

Type A which allows for regular monthly visits to the unit where
scheduled maintenance tasks are completed on each visit to
ensure safe and efficient operation. Under this particular type
contract, any additional unscheduled visits to the unit would be
charged for over and above the monthly service fee. All labour
and parts requiring replacement would also be charged for over
and above the monthly service fee.
Type C which allows for regular monthly visits to the unit where
scheduled maintenance tasks are completed on each visit to
ensure safe and efficient operation. Also included in this particular
type contract are any additional unscheduled visits to the unit
as well as all parts requiring replacement due to normal wear
and tear. Only damage to the equipment due to malicious
damage would be charged for additionally.

All maintenance visits are scheduled during Vision Elevators

normal working hours and recorded on a unique database which
allows for accurate record keeping on the maintenance activities
on any unit in the portfolio. These reports can be supplied on
request and according to the type of information the unit owner
requires. In addition to the database entries, copies of all service
reports are held at our head office for reference. The original
record book is stored with the unit on site and allows convenient
access for building owners on all the relevant maintenance
history.
Call outs
We offer a 24/7 service to assist our contract clients with any
break down experienced on one of the units currently held in
our portfolio. Call outs are attended to during normal working
hours as well as after hours on our dedicated emergency response
number.
In addition to our service for contract clients we can also assist
clients currently not on our service portfolio, with assistance on
breakdowns on any other unit. Included in this service is a free
quotation to attend to the unit which will include the inspection,
labour and any parts required to ensure safe and efficient
operation. Call outs for non-contract clients will be attended to
during normal working hours.
Replacement Parts
Vision Elevators stocks a wide range of replacement parts for
Vision units as well as those used by many other elevator
companies nationwide. Quotations are supplied on request and
orders are not subject to minimum quantities. From door locks
to landing doors, guide rails to safety gears, Vision Elevators can
supply any part, anytime, anywhere!

Repairs
Vision Elevators can assist with repairs to both Vision products
and products not purchased from Vision. Free quotations are
supplied following a detailed unit inspection by our qualified
technicians. From a broken lock to a full modernisation, we have
the expertise and part sources at our disposal to assist where
needed.

Based on the above information and an assessment of the unit

installed, a qualified consultant may recommend an upgrade or
modernisation tailored to meet the client s specific requirements.
Where a full modernisation is not commercially viable, we are
able to carry out upgrades of certain key components to improve
the reliability of the unit. A few examples are:

Modernisations
VVVF door operator
Vision Elevators customises, modernises or, when necessary,
replaces existing lift systems within existing building parameters.
There are many factors which affect the operating life of lifts in
general, among these are the frequency of use, conditions under
which the unit is used, the quality and regularity of the
maintenance services and, of course, the handling of the unit by
the users/owners.
In buildings where there is an existing lift, hoist or escalator it is
important to consider the following key indicators that may point
to the need to upgrade, either partially or fully:
The unit installed is over 20 years old.
The frequency of breakdowns, call outs and repairs has
increased significantly since the preceding year.

Drive and control replacements

Machine replacements
Door detectors for passenger protection
Complete lift modernisations include everything from supply,
installation and the final commissioning. In addition, once
commissioned, a comprehensive maintenance service can be
undertaken which will include lift safety inspections, scheduled
monthly maintenance and a 24hour emergency service.
Please do not hesitate to contact our modernisation sales
department for free modernisation assessments and quotations.
Our team is also available for support to clients, architects,
designers and specifiers.

The cost of the breakdowns, call outs and repairs has

increased significantly since the preceding year.

Wesant (Pty) Ltd, a 100% owned subsidiary of Vision Elevators,

is our locally based manufacturing facility, producing over 400
new units over the last 5 years. Wesant has enjoyed exceptional
growth and was started by Digby Wareing in 1993 with a 36m2
facility in Waterfall and a staff compliment of just two. Presently,
Wesant can be found occupying a 900m2 premises in Fangio Pl,
Westmead and employs over 20 staff members. There is an
additional 150m2 of storage space on the premises that is to be
further utilised as a training facility for apprentices.

In addition to the local manufacture of complete lifting systems

from dumbwaiters to goods hoists to up scale passenger elevators,
Wesant carries a total stock value of over R3million at any one
time. A new stock control system is to be implemented and, once
complete, Wesant will be going live on the web, becoming the
first SA online lift shop for all imported parts and other locally
manufactured components. This will include our locally
manufactured goods hoist cars and landing gates both picket
and Collapse-a-Panel available exclusively from Wesant.

Amongst the machinery Wesant now boasts is a Magnum 100

Ton x 3100 Hydraulic Press-brake and a JFY VT300 Hydraulic
CNC punching machine. The purchase of these machines has
proved invaluable in streamlining the in-house sheet metal
fabrication process. Wesant utilises Autodesk Inventor software
to model and develop their products, as well as the Latest
AutoCAD software, and also has a range of other drilling and
cutting machinery. In the near future, Wesant will be expanding
their machinery base and purchasing a new CNC Turning Machine,
an additional CNC Bending Press, and a specialised CNC Machine
to increase their gate production capability and accuracy.

Wesant is also proud to promote their modernisation capability.

Their ability to utilise existing components (such as the guides)
and then build custom lift cars and frames to suit, is currently
saving on their clients investment in terms of new lifting
equipment requirements as well as minimising downtime of
elevators already in use. This ability and foresight is a rare, but
valuable, asset in their repertoire of services.

Safety: We re committed to ensuring the safety of our staff as well as those who use our quality products.
All Vision products comply with current regulations governing each specific type of equipment in the SANS 1545 series. We are always
looking to the European Standards on which the SANS are based for any incorporations or amendments that can affect the lift industry.
Both management and employees adhere to the recommendations of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85/1993 and in doing
so aim to maximise efficiency as well as maintain a high quality of workmanship and quality control.
Elevator safety in South Africa is governed by 3 sets of regulations:

The Occupational Health and Safety Act

The SANS 10400 Building Regulations

The SANS 1545 Safety Rules for the construction and installation of lifts

A.
The Occupational Health and Safety Act is relevant to all users
of elevator machinery. For the regulations on goods hoists please
see Driven Machinery Regulation 17; for the regulations on
elevators please see Lift, Escalator and Passenger Conveyor
Regulations. These regulations stipulate the safety requirements
as well as the minimum service intervals for each type of
equipment. A copy of the OHS Act can be obtained from
www.labour.gov.za or from your local labour centre.

B.
The SANS 10400 building regulations are relevant to engineers
and architects in the design of any building where an elevator is
going to be installed. The regulations that pertain to elevators
are Part S and Part T. These regulations can be found at the South
African Bureau of Standards.
Should there be any restrictions in the development that render
the compliance to any regulation very difficult or practically
impossible, an exemption to the regulations would need to be
applied for. This can be done by personally lodging the reasons
for needed exemption with a building inspector in the region.

C.
The SANS 1545 regulations govern the safety rules for the
construction and installation of lifts and set a benchmark for the
construction of elevators in the industry. All products supplied
and installed by Vision Elevators conform with SANS 1545 and
all other relevant regulations governing the specific equipment.
As a company we place high priority on the quality of components
used to manufacture our products. As well as the quality of
components, we are also concerned with the quality of the final
product supplied to the client and the safety of the unit once in
operation. The following is a brief summary of the regulations in
the SANS 1545:

Part 1: Electric Lifts

Part 2: Hydraulic Lifts

Part 3: Stair Lifting Platforms

Part 4: Vertical Lifting Platforms

Part 5: Electric and Hydraulic access, goods only lifts

Part 6: Rack and Pinion Lifts

Research and Development: Equipping staff with the skills and knowledge to provide superior service.
In an effort to improve the current skills level among staff and
to train more individuals to become lift technicians, both Vision
Elevators and our subsidiary Wesant have been workplace
approved as training facilities for apprentices in the lift mechanic
trade. At present we offer this training opportunity to learners,
who graduate from technical colleges.
All learnerships are governed by MERSETA and the curriculum
of the MEIETB is followed precisely. Due to the immense
shortage of skilled labour in the elevator industry, the investment
that we have made in this respect is immeasurable. It is the firm
belief that training workers in the skills of the trade is the only
way to ensure that the high standards to which Vision Elevators
adheres can be communicated effectively and preserved for
years to come. Research and development plays a significant

role in the day-to-day operation of the manufacturing plant.

In order to keep abreast with latest technological developments
and products available throughout the world, Vision Elevators
representatives regularly visit exhibitions specific to the lift
industry in the interest of sourcing well priced, technologically
advanced components from the leading worldwide suppliers.
Vision engineers continually use all available resources to gain
access to new and improved components and conditions that
will improve their capacity to supply the South African market
with the most innovative yet competitively priced units.
It is in this way that Vision Elevators and its subsidiaries will go
further to discover and assess various alternatives to current
trends and discover the winning edge that will set us apart from
the rest.
