FisherBroyles Announces New Intellectual Property Partner James J.

Pohl to

J. Pohl has joined its Washington, D.C. office as a partner in its Intellectual Property Law Group. Pohl is
an experienced patent attorney with a true passion for providing thoughtful and judiciously creative
advice to help clients succeed.
James is an outstanding addition to the firm's electrical and software patent group, said T.J. DoVale,
Head of Intellectual Property Law at FisherBroyles, LLP. He commands a deep technical background to
compliment his widely respected legal acumen.
Pohl draws on his diverse education and experience in business, law, and engineering to provide balanced
advice on topics such as: aligning IP strategy with business goals, developing patent portfolios, IP due
diligence, legal opinions, tech-related agreements, IP-related litigation advising, risk assessment, and
design-around analysis.

welcome another patent attorney to the Washington, D.C. office. James brings unique assets to the firm's
deep bench in the patent field.
Pohl possesses a strong background of over 25 years of experience in Electrical Engineering and Applied
Physics. His technical expertise includes experience relating to artificial intelligence, neural networks,
digital devices, cloud computing, wireless electronics, semiconductors, the Internet of Things, optics, and
sensors. Prior to becoming an attorney, Pohl was an electrical engineer for a leading telecom equipment
manufacturer. He also served in the U.S. Navy, where he was a submariner, taught nuclear power plant
operation, and provided technical assistance for the upgrading of two submarine reactors.
