partnercharitiesineachcountrytoboostawarenessand
growthtotheirprojects.

EastAfricaandSouthernAfrica.TheroutefromKenyathroughtoCape
Town,willbebrokendownintostagesbutundertakeninitsentiretyby
theproject'stwofemaleco-foundersEmma&Lysianne.

toelectricity.Withoutelectricityfamilieshaveno
cleansourceoflight,leavingmillionstorelyon
expensiveanddangerousalternativessuchas
homemadekerosenelamps.Theselampsarea
poorsourceoflighttheyemittoxicblacksmoke,
eatupto15 % ofafamilysincomeandare
extremelyhazardous.
Withasolarlight,everythingchanges.Theselittle
lampsaresafe,cleanandaffordable.Theygiveoff
hoursoflightintheeveningsofamiliescanearn,
learnandfeelsafeafterdark.Justonelampcan

TheFarajaCancerSupportTrustwasfoundedin2010withtheaimofprovidingemotional,practicalandhealing
supporttoanyoneaffectedbycancer.Farajaoffersservicestocomplementmedicaltreatmentthroughinformation,
freecomplementarytherapies,groupsmeetingsandfinancialassistanceformedicaltreatment.Theirpremises
provideasafehavenforcancerpatientsandtheircare-giverstoaccesstheirfreeservices,whichhasenabledthem
tomakeapositiveinfluenceinthethejourneyofover3000cancerpatients.

TanzaniaAnimalWelfareSociety(TAWESO)isanon-profit,non-governmentalorganizationwithamajoraimof
promotinganimalwelfareinTanzania.Theyareavolunteerorganizationdevotedtohelpanimalsbyfightingagainst
allformsofanimalcruelty.Theyaddresssocietalcausesforpooranimalwelfarethroughadvocacyoflegislationsand
publicawarenesscampaigns,humaneanimaleducationinschoolsandfindingimmediateimprovement,handlingand

companiesandeveryelementofthesafariindustry.EachTravelForImpactPartnerdonatesaminimumofUSD1.In
additiontothis,everylodge,campandhotelthatthetouroperatorpartneroragenthasbooked,donatesafurther

BENNamibiaaimstoempowerdisadvantagedNamibiansthroughprovisionofsustainabletransportandbicyclerelatedincomegenerationopportunities.Aspartofanorganisedsystemthatprovidesaccesstoongoingspareparts
andmaintenance,thebicyclecanbeanimportantdevelopmenttool.Inapoorcommunity,accesstoabicyclemeans
greaterindependenceandincreasedsocial,economicandeducationalopportunities.

TheBicyclingEmpowermentNetwork(BEN)isanNPOinCapeTown.BENpromotessustainablesocialandeconomic
empowermentthroughtheuseofbicycles.BicyclesareanaffordableandaccessiblemeansoftransportforallSouth
Africans,providingaccesstoopportunitiesinpoorcommunitieswhereunemploymentandpovertyareserious
concerns.Overtheyears,overfivethousandpeoplehavebeentrainedinsafecycling,overtwentytwothousand
bicycleshavebeendistributed,sixteencommunitybicyclingempowermentcentershavebeenopenedandfiftyfive
individualshavebeentrainedinbicyclemechanics.

Morelikesistersthancousins,thereisadeepbondbetween
Emma&Lysianneandasenseofadventurethatfillstheirsouls.
In2014,onoppositesidesoftheworldandunbeknownsttoone
another,theirmindswerestillworkinginsynchronicityandthe
universewasconspiringtomakemagichappen.Emmahad
decidedtogrababicycleandcycletheislandofZanzibar.
Meanwhile,LysiannehadarrangementsunderwaytocycleSouth
Korea.EmmafelttheurgetogetintouchwithLysianneand
broachtheideaofthejourneyacrossAfricawithacharitable
purpose.Lysiannerepliedweareonthesamepage!.
