Page 3

Approved drawings and relevant surveying information including well

station status shall be obtained.
Survey works shall establish benchmarks as needed to execute the
works, preserving all stakes, existing monuments and benchmarks.
Utilities shall be marked and shall be protected.
Necessary work permit shall be obtained.
Required safety material reflecting the risk assessment shall be delivered
to location.
2.4.2

Site Management Plan & Access Routes

Prior to start of the work, necessary site coordination meeting will be
conducted, assigning responsibilities to BUILDERS staff. If the job is
performed at an area that will obstruct other contractors or movement of
traffics, necessary coordination will be done for alternate routes.

2.4.3

Materials Delivery and Storage

All materials shall be stored in designated area, properly identified and
segregated, and protected against damage and deterioration
Safety provision materials such as safety cones, warning tapes, fixed and
solid barriers for edge protection, etc. shall be arranged for barricading
and protection of work site.

2.5.

Work Methodology
2.5.1

Survey, Layout and Preparation

Site survey and layout shall be completed in accordance with Drawings.

2.5.2

Submersible Pump Installation

Check the pump for shipment damage

Check for free rotation prior to installation, even though the pump has
been factory tested, by removing suction screen and rotating the pump
shaft coupling with fingers or a standard screw driver.
The complete pump should be submerge below the drawdown level of the
well, but the motor should be a minimum distance from top of the well
screen.
Use the specified pipe as per the project specification.

Install torque arrestor for well casing using rigid PVC or flexible plastic
piped due to the starting torque of the motor will rub against the inside
walls of the well casing.
Install cable guards to protect the submersible cable from abrasion against
side of the well.
Lay the pump 25mm to 50mm from the well, pointing outward(pump
discharge away from the well).
Lay out plastic pipes, safety ropes, hose clamps, bleeder orifice, piping,
assembly package, tape, submersible cable etc.
Assembly of all components that go into the well should be made
horizontally on the ground and then lowered into the well.
Install a pipe adapter in the pump discharge tapping using Teflon tape.
Do not use pipe wrench on any part of the pump except the cast discharge
of the pump.
Be sure that the working surface is smooth to avoid damage to the plastic
pipe and electric cable. Cut off sealed end of the plastic pipe with
hacksaw.
Slide torque arrestor on plastic pipe from pump end. Pull the motor lead
cable through one of the small outside hole of the torque arrestor.
Position two hose clamps over end of plastic pipe. Slide plastic pipe over
the pipe adapter all the way to the shoulder. Position the clamp tightening
screws opposite each other and away from the motor lead wires to prevent
insulation damage. Tighten the hose clamps and tape clamp tab ends to
pipe with plastic tape.
Slide torque arrestor down from the end of the plastic pipe, and clamp
sufficiently to prevent the torque arrestor from sliding up on the pipe while
lowering unit in well.
Splice the electric cable to the pump leads. Heat shrink tubing and Sta-kon
connectors are recommended. It is necessary that the splice be water tight.
Unroll the electric cable along side of the plastic pipe. Be sure not to
damage wire insulation, and that all kinks are straightened out.

Cut the plastic pipe to proper length.

2.5.3

TESTING AND INSPECTION

Check the pipe connections for any clogged and leaks.

Measure the flow and or pressure at different rates. This can be used to
determine to the overall performance of the pump. Static Water Level and
Pumping Water measurements are also taken
Visual inspection of the Starter Panel, Electric Motor, Pump, and related
pump system components. Running tests include Amp/Voltage readings
and system pressure checks. This basic inspection can be your first line of
defense in preventing major problems before they occur.
The Pump Efficiency Test is performed by installing a Flow Meter on the
discharge of the pump and measuring the volume of flow, draws down in
the well, amp load of the motor, and system pressure. This information is
documented and entered into a computer to calculate Overall Pumping
Plant Efficiency. This test will determine how efficiently water is being
produced by the power input to the pump.
The Well Test consists of installing one Test Pumps to test the
performance of the existing well.
Measure well production at different rates of flow.
Measure sand production to determine if the proper size a pump is
installed on the well and also if sand filtration is needed.
2.5.4

RESPONSIBILITIES

Site Engineer is responsible to coordinate and explain the work to be

carried out to the supervisor or foreman.
Site Engineer is to assure that the installation is as per approved shop
drawing, specifications and recommendations.
