When we had the need to buy a bridge specialized software, we realized we dont have enough technic
al support in India for any software other than Midas. So we started using Midas and this was the first ti
me we were using a bridge specialized software. The process of getting adapted to Midas was very easy
and quick.
We purchased 5 licenses at a go and now we have 10 licenses. MIDAS recognized that we are one of the
largest users of MIDAS in India. We also sent 2 licenses to Hyderabad office, 2 licenses to Kuwait office and
they are also using and are happy about it.
The best part of MIDAS is the technical support, its very good. We have never asked for training session
because MIDAS has been conducting training sessions very often and invites us for the group training
sessions(workshops) whenever they organize. We also got a chance to interact with the other users during
these sessions. It has been quite an enjoyable experience for us to use MIDAS.

For PSC bridges and Balanced cantilever bridges MIDAS is very useful and is a very good option.
I am saying from my experience that the GUI is very good and they need to work on the design features as
per Indian code.
The balanced cantilever bridges, the name balanced cantilever bridge is a misnomer. Actually we use
cantilever technique and it is not a balanced cantilever bridge. In such cases we are able to simulate the
actual construction sequence and thats why MIDAS is useful. Also whatever we model, we can see what we
have modelled and is very transparent. And we can get the results wherever and whenever during the
construction stage and during design.

It is a multipurpose program and is a time saving solution for bridge and other FEM problems.
Midas Civil offers a quality solution within a specified frame. Variety of problems can be handled by a single
tool which makes it stand out from the other software. In fact, modeling is very simple even for the most
complicated problems and results can be extracted in many forms suitable to the user.

For Rail-Soil Interaction(RSI) concern, it is very important to model the bridge and track the configurations
properly and apply proper connections by multi linear springs. RSI module of MIDAS serves this requirement
impressively and provides solutions in very short time.
Lastly, MIDAS support team is really fantastic. They offer support in a quick manner and have troubleshooting
tactics for a variety of issues.

It has been one year since I have started using MIDAS

and I started using basically to get the reactions, moment
and rotations based on the bearing locations for the
specific model that we had made. I find MIDAS simple,
like I can export CAD files rather than modelling
completely in Midas which makes the modelling easier
and I can also export the results to excel and this has
been pretty useful because going and checking each
output is very tedious. When we have an option of
exporting to excel it saves lots of time there. We have
some juniors who are new to the software and I find that
they are also responding well to the software. This
shows the simplicity of MIDAS.
When it comes to training, there has always been a
positive approach from MIDAS. They keep conducting
webinars and keep updating the software according to
the market needs. Even for a small or stupid problem,
they have been always there to help us. This kind of
support is available always from MIDAS.

Midas Civil software is very compact and has the

ability to solve structural analysis and design of
building and bridges of various categories. It help us to
analyze the structure completely from sub structure to
superstructure at a time which save a lot of time.
Previously we were designing our structures on
STAAD pro software, in which we have to design
superstructure and foundation separately.
Construction stage analysis was not possible in a
single model whereas in midas Civil it is very
comfortable for that type of analysis in a single model.

Midas Civil is powerful and versatile software for the

analysis of different types of bridge structures. Analysis
based on several codes of practice can be done. The data
base within the software contains particular information
pertaining to respective standards. Software is quite user
friendly. Midas Civil also has designing capabilities, but
need little more updates.
With normal analysis software, design typically involved
analysis using software and design using excel
spreadsheets. Also the effects of secondary loadings like
temperature, age dependent properties creep, shrinkage
were to be obtained based on standards and applied on
the model. midas Civil allows user to input these directly,
saving lots of time and effort.
MIDAS support team is excellent. MIDAS team attends to
the queries and provides satisfactory replies in the shortest
time possible. MIDAS team also engages in technical
discussion around a query.

Midas Civil is good software as compared to many

other software available in the market. Since the
software is a fully finite element analysis software,
the results are more refined and close to real values
and are more reliable.
We have used midas Civil for many of our projects
and find that the performance is really good. The
modeling and analysis of bridges has been done
using MIDAS for structures such as Continues
bridges with variable box girders, cable stayed
bridges, segmental bridges, composite and PSC I
girder bridges. The results are more reliable for
designing the various elements.
The analysis engine is quite fast in the sense that
the analysis is performed within no time however
big the model is. We are obtaining more reliable and
better behavior of the structure close to reality.

Now we are working on an international project, which is in Vietnam and they are many complex structures
and special structures. There comes MIDAS which is a perfect solution for special structures. Also our juniors
had already worked with MIDAS and they said this is the best software because modelling is very easy and
the output is very reliable and this is the reason we purchased MIDAS.
Before we were using cumbersome methods for
continuous structures and we have to do long procedure
manually. Now we are very comfortable. We have just
modelled a continuous structure in MIDAS and we will have
direct result there, this is a main reason we have opted for
MIDAS. And it obviously is time saving for us, modelling
time is almost same in all software, sometimes we have to
do in excel and notepad which will have better control. For
the outcome from the model we have to check the analysis
with excel manually and again it depends on the thinking of
the engineer, so chance of human error is zero using
MIDAS because it is doing this automatically and those
results are verified with your tech support team and its a
very good thing.

More or less we have been using midas Civil for all of

our projects because we feel that it is very easy to use.
We like how we can manipulate things in midas civil to
get the answers to get the results and get the format in
which we want the results.
I have used some software like SAP 2000 and STAAD
and we have chosen over those software because in a
way midas civil is easy to use. Thats my personal
opinion. We have been using software like SAP and
STAAD in parallel to midas but we first go to midas and
then go to staad. We have done some hand calculations
comparisons with other software and we believe midas
Civil gives good enough results and the precision is more
in midas.

Todays world, engineers wants to have previous data & according to them to modify & get the results. People are
not able to calculate hand made. They want the commercial software & want readymade sheets but MIDAS
software is very user friendly & easy to use.
We have bought the midas Civil software in 2010. With a view
that it is an upcoming software, which can be handled a
numerous problem & also encounter an analysis of complicated
bridge or normal bridge where steel construction analysis is
required. One needs to take the account of short term, long
term effects of the concrete, prestressing steel & the different
construction like boundary dynamic analysis, what we heard in
past that it (midas Civil) take cares of all the features & thats
why we bought midas Civil.
This is one of the reason, why we bought a midas software & it
is one of the most user friendly software. Whatever you do in
the screen, you can see in the graphic mode simultaneously
which is a very good feature. Even you can import the cross
sections from the AutoCAD drawing itself & also you can model
as beam properties in the MIDAS. It has a numerous library of
elastic, rigid links which is require to module to the complicated
bearing in structures & keep on changing the boundary
conditions during the different constructions stages & all this
software can do it.

For particular 1 member, it is a very cumbersome problem, we

have to use the other program to extract the data and then
again how to combine, but then I used the same type of
structure in MIDAS, it has the capability straightway. I can use
the combination and it has saved a lot of time ,so I would say
its time saving and you can design the structure optimally.
