{t seems a flurry of activity on your page has recently upset the community to which I belong, the nurse
practitioner community.
From reading your statements I fear you are putting misleading information, However, it seems my peers
hhave leaped in to corzet it
Are you still unclear? Certification is board certification whether itis ANCC or AANP.
Both certify that NPs have atleast the minimum competency required to practice. Itis required by most
states’ board of nursing to be licensed as an APRN.

{never said or implied that either certification lead to a difference is scope of practice. If both examinations
lead to "boarding," then please give me a URL. or some verification that this is the case.
Michelle
its not "boarding* i's Board Certification

Both exams mean you are certified. The credential is different but that has no bearing as they result in equal
access to being licensed to practice.

If you still have questions, I'l try to help. 'm sure your intent was not to mislead nor to upset our
community and I feel confident you want to clear this all up.
Harvey Clinic, P.C.‘Thank you for taking the time to calmly send me to these pages for clarification. As I read them, which 1
have done more than once, I can see why NPs think that they are "boarded" with either certification
Frankly, don't think either professional organization does a really clear job of differentiating between the
‘ovo certifications. But that is my opinion, and NPs may fee differently about ths,
Harvey Clinic, P.C.
One certification actually contains "boarded" in its degree nomenclature. The other does not. There is some
‘acknowledgment that the -BC exam is lengthier and covers topics missing from the -C certification, So
there is some difference between the exams. That being the case, there should be a difference in the
designation.

But both offer certification. The word board is not indicative of a higher level of certification. They pose
‘equal meaning and aecess to practice. It can be confusing, Aspects like this have frustrated nurse
Practitioners for a while. Barriers to entry and multiple avenues ereate confusion for many.

Agreed. This is something the nursing credentialers should be addressing, at least in my opinion,
