Dear Parent or Guardian:
The Brooklyn Alumnae Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated , Delta Rho Omega, in
conjunction with New York University Polytechnic School of Engineering and the Ivy Rose Foundation,
Incorporated, will be hosting a Youth Summit on Saturday, March 4, 2017 from 10am 3pm. The
Summit will be held at New York University Tandon School of Engineering. The theme for the youth
summit is, Hidden Figures in STEAM The summit will be a day of workshops, focusing on Science,
Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM) for students. We will also provide specialized
workshops for the parents in attendance, which may be an opportunity for parents to become familiar with
the college financial aid process.
Delta Rho Omega has a rich history of service in the Brooklyn community, and in particular, enriching the
lives of our children. The DRO Youth Summit is intended to provde a forum for students grades 8 th-12th
to equip, excite, and connect young people in our communities around STEM-based subjects and career
opportunities through leadership and character building activities.
The Youth Summit will begin at 10:00 a.m. at New York University Polytechnic School of Engineering
located in the heart of Downtown Brooklyn. The Summit will have two workshop sessions for both
registered students and parents. In addition to the workshops, there will be a Summit Expo for further
exploration of STEAM-related fields and the college experience.
The Youth Summit is FREE to all registered participants. Parent/Chaperones/Guardians must register
each participant. Each registered participant must be a student in grades 8 th-12th. All participants must be
escorted to the event and picked up by a Parent/Chaperone/Guardian. The registration/consent form must
be signed by the Parent/Guardian. No exceptions will be provided.

forms by contacting a member of Delta Rho Omega. Please follow the instructions carefully because
incomplete registration will prevent admittance to our Youth Summit. Please complete all registration
forms no later than February 25, 2017. Please register immediately as space is limited!
We look forward to seeing you on March 4, 2017, and assisting the participants in further developing a
successful mindset to prepare them for a strong future. Remember All Registration Forms must be
