What is Adobe

Program Introduction

Adobe Systems is an American multinational computer software company. Adobe was founded in February
1982 by John Warnock and Charles Geschke in San
Jose, California, United States. It is best known for
Photoshop, an image editing software, Adobe Reader, the Portable Document Format (PDF) and Adobe

called Type 1. In the mid-1980s, Adobe entered the
consumer software market with Adobe Illustrator, a
vector-based drawing program for the Apple Macintosh. Illustrator, which grew from the firms in-house
font-development software, helped popularize PostScript-enabled laser printers.
In 1989, Adobe introduced what was to become its
flagship product, a graphics editing program for
the Macintosh called Adobe Photoshop. Stable and
full-featured, Photoshop 1.0 was ably marketed by
Adobe and soon dominated the market. In 1993, Adobe introduced PDF, the Portable Document Format,
and its Adobe Acrobat and Reader software.
In December 1991, Adobe released Adobe Premiere,
which Adobe rebranded as Adobe Premiere Pro in
2003. In 1994, added Adobe After Effects to its product line later in the year, it also controls the TIFF file

Photoshop was created in 1989 by Thomas and John
Knoll. Since then, it has become the de facto industry standard in raster graphics editing, such that the
word Photoshop has become a verb as in to Photoshop an image, photoshopping and Photoshop
contest, though Adobe discourages such use. It can
edit and compose raster images in multiple layers and
supports masks, alpha compositing and several colour
models including RGB, CMYK, Lab colour space, spot
colour. Photoshops feature set can be expanded by
Photoshop plug-ins, programs developed and distributed independently of Photoshop that can run inside
it and offer new or enhanced features.
In October 2002, following the introduction of Creative Suite branding, each new version of Photoshop
was designated with CS plus a number; e.g., the
eighth major version of Photoshop was Photoshop
CS and the ninth major version was Photoshop CS2.
Photoshop CS3 through CS6 were also distributed
in two different editions: Standard and Extended. In
June 2013, with the introduction of Creative Cloud
branding, Photoshops licensing scheme was changed
to that of software as a service rental model and the
CS suffixes were replaced with CC.

What is Photoshop used for?

Photoshop is a graphics-editing program that is used
to create and manipulate images. The programs versatile nature makes it useful for a huge range of imaging tasks, and Photoshop is used in fields as diverse
as architecture, astronomy, animation, forensics, web
design and medicine

Lightroom can be used as a downloadable program
on a desktop computer, as a Web application and as
a mobile application. The program allows users to adjust the tone, contrast, colour and dimensions of the
photo and also allows users to insert items from one
photo into another. Users can also index their photos
more easily and take their photo library wherever
they go using the mobile applications.

Premiere Pro
Adobe Premiere Pro is a video editing program that
is part of the Adobe Creative Cloud software collection, as well as Adobe CS6 or Adobe Creative
Suite. Premiere Pro is used to edit videos, including
movies, and is quickly becoming the go-to program
for filmmakers all over the world, both amateur
and pro. When youre talking about film and video
editing, there are two types of editing processes:
linear and non-linear. Linear video editing was the
way video was edited before digital video recorders
and cameras became the primary way of shooting
film. In linear editing, you would scrub through the
footage by dragging the play head in the program
you were using to make the edits. You would select,
arrange, and edit images and sound in the sequence
of the footage. In other words, you had to roll
through the entire film to find the place where you
wanted to perform edits, then make those changes.
The edits that you made changed the original version. In fact, you could say the original version was

Non-linear video editing, on the other hand, allows

you to go directly to the frame where you want to
perform edits. Premiere Pro is a non-linear editor.
You will start by capturing or ingesting content, then
cut that content into pieces. You will be able to split
clips, add filters and effects, and trim frames. However, Premiere Pro doesnt change the original footage, which is why we say it is non-destructive. The
age of digital media, as opposed to reels of tape,
helped make this kind of non-linear editing possible.

Adobe Illustrator was first developed for the Apple
Macintosh in December 1986 (as a commercialization
of Adobes development software and PostScript file
format. Adobe Illustrator is the companion product
of Adobe Photoshop. Photoshop is primarily geared
toward digital photo manipulation and photorealistic
styles of computer illustration, while Illustrator provides results in the typesetting and logo graphic areas
of design. Early magazine advertisement referred to
the product as the Adobe Illustrator.

Adobe InDesign is a desktop publishing software application produced by Adobe Systems. It can be used
to create works such as posters, flyers, brochures,
magazines, newspapers, and books. InDesign can also
publish content suitable for tablet devices in conjunction with Adobe Digital Publishing Suite. Graphic
designers and production artists are the principal
users, creating and laying out periodical publications,
posters, and print media.

In addition, InDesign supports XML, style sheets, and

other coding mark-up, making it suitable for exporting tagged text content for use in other digital and
online formats. The Adobe In Copy word processor
uses the same formatting engine as InDesign.
