Find mim thk for NPS 8 inch Class 400 flange fitting from table E1 as 0.56
inch. So as per 6.1.2 minimum thickness that should exist is 0.75 X 0.56
inch= 0.42 But it is thinned to 0.400 inch which is lower than 0.42
inch. So not acceptable. So ans is B
Q10) The Dia of circle of sub minimum thickness is as per 6.1.2 0.35 X SQ
Root of (D x t),
Here D is tabulated fitting inside dia From table Here inside
dia is also 8 inch
i.e. 0.35 x sq root of (8 x 0.56) = 0.7408 inch. So ans is B
Q11) As per 6.1.2 1.75 Sq roort of ( d x t) = 1.75 x Sq Root of ( 8 x .56) = 3.70
So ans is D
Q12) Table II-2-3.5, 1500 Psig from table. So hydro test is 1.5 x 1500 = 2250
Psig
So answer is A
Q13) So thk from E 3 and 6.1.2 is 1.25 inch So thk is 0.75 x 1.25 = 0.9375 so
Ans is A
Q14) As per 6.1.2 Dia of Sub minimum thk circle is 0.35 X SQ Root of ( D x t)
Which is = 0.35 x sq root of ( 11.12x 1.25) = 1.304 So Ans is B
Q15) As per 6.1.2 Ans is 1.7 Sq root ( D xT0= 1.75 x sq root of ( 11.12x 1.25)
Which is = 6.52, Ans = B

B 16.5 TIPS
1.
Flanges with rating class designations 150, 300, 400, 600, 900,1500, and
2500 in sizes
2.
Service Conditions
Criteria for selection of materials suitable for particular fluid service are not
within the scope of this standard
3.
Hub End. The standard flange shall be provided with square cut end.
4.
5.
6.
Conformance
The designation B16 or B16.5 shall be applied to the flange or flanged fitting,
preferably located adjacent to the class designation, to indicate conformance
to this standard. The use of the prefix ASME is optional.
7.
Temperature
Temperature markings are not required on flanges or flanged fittings,
however, if marked, the temperature shall be shown with its corresponding
tabulated pressure rating for the material
8.
Ring joint Flanges. The edge (Periphery) of the each ring joint flange shall
be marked with the letter R and the Corresponding ring groove number
