Funerary Inscriptions on the exterior panels of the Asyut sarcophagi.

Asyut sarcophagi have the text on each of the four panels/sides: head, feet, left side, right side.
These texts are the speeches of the Sun god addressing the Osirisdeceased whose body is in
the sarcophagus and are the feature of the sarcophagi from Asyut:
Head:
Dd mdw jn ra jw rd.n.(j) n.k jst Xr dp.k rm.s Tw jAkb.s Tw
"Recitation by the Sun: I have given you Isis under your head: she will shed tears over you1, she
will mourn you"
Feet:
Dd mdw jn ra jw rd.n.(j) n.k nbtnbt-Hwt Xr rdwj.k rm.s Tw jAkb.s Tw
"Recitation by the Sun: I have given you Nephtis under your feet: she will shed tears over you1,
she will mourn you"
Left side:
Dd mdw jn ra jw rd.n(.j) n.k spdw nb jAbt m gs.k jAb
"Recitation by the Sun: I have given you Sopdu2, lord of the East3, into your left side/half"
Right side:
Dd mdw jn ra jw rd.n(.j) n.k HA nb jmnt m gs.k jmn
"Recitation by the Sun: I have given you Ha4, Lord of the West, into your right side/half"
Similar to the left-right sides expressions occur in the unknown PT or CT descendant on the
walls of Senmut tomb5:

"Hail, this Osiris NN! I (= the Sun) have come to show you6 as a big (= elder) god, I have given
you Shu into your right side/half, Tefnut into your left side/half"

lit. "cry/weep (over) you". In Egyptian just like in Russian and unlike English this expression had
transitive verb that had the literal meaning of "crying, weeping" (" " in Russian).

Spelled s + p + {long-crested falcon} on the coffin panel from a private collection (theres a photo

spdw nb j3bt "Sopdu, lord of the east" occurs in CT IV, 90b, VI, 220e (these references were kindly
provided by Dr J.P. Allen).

The western desert god Ha (HA) is spelled with the N76-{N25 on standard}-HA sign on the
sarcophagus of Nakhti from Assiut (Louvre, E 11936). Other sarcophagi have just the {falcon} sign as
a spelling for Ha.
