The event:
A Jest-A-Minute (JAM) competition was organized by AASF which was an
interesting and absorbing 2 hour event. The event aimed at nourishing the
speaking skills of students and helped them to develop the confidence to
speak up in front of an audience. Students were divided into small groups
and each group was given a few minutes to express views and ideas on
the topic. The topics were given on-the-spot and students were given few
seconds to ponder over it. The chance to speak had to be grasped by
interjecting others when they made a mistake. This was ensured by the
tongue-twisters that were needed to be spoken before beginning ones
views.
The judges appreciated the performance of the students as they had
participated in such an event for the first time and yet they put forward
their points in a concrete and well framed manner. They also gave in their
valuable suggestions as to areas which could be enhanced further to have
more effective oratory skills
The winners of the event were:
Raj Melhotra- 1st
Juhi Tiwari - 2nd
Shubhankar Srivastav 3rd
Organizers feedback:
Organizing such an event was a great experience for us. The freshers
showed participation with great enthusiasm and vigour. Both the judges

and the participants cooperated really well and the event was thus
conducted very smoothly. It was overall a fun event and we look forward
to having more of events like this. say the organisers.
Feedback from the students:
It is always nice to have a platform for expressing views and thoughts to
people around us. Sharing them was a great experience for me as it was
both fun filled and enriching. The judges told us minute details on which
we should work upon to enrich our speaking skills. The topics given were
very interesting and gave us a chance to dig deep into various issues and
ideas says a student from IPG-2016.
