1. DIMENSIONS
1.1. Basic dimension: A dimension on the drawing as basic is a theoretical value usa to describe the exact
size, shepe of location ofa feature I is used es a bass from which permissible varietions are established by
tolerances on other dimensions or notes,
1.2. REFERENCE dimension is a dimension without tolerance used for informational purposes only and
does not govern manufacturing or inepeetion operations. Reference dimensions are Indicated on the draw-
Ing by the abbreviation “REF” directly following or under the dimension. See Figure I

1.3.4. When it is necessary that the treed extend nearer to the bottom of the hole then normal practice,
‘the depth of the full thread section and the depth of tha tap drill wil be specified, See Tables 3 and 4, Page
AG, fer normal depths.
1.3.5. The drawing will illustrate whether the tapped hole may break thru or the note “do not break thru”
wil be used,
1.3.6 HARDENED THREADS: Whon parts with internal throads are hardoned the threads shall be pro

See Tables 1 and 2, Column 3,
1.4.2. The groove side adjacent to the thread shall form a 45° 5° angle with a plane porpendicular to the
aks ofthe serew thread,
1.4.3. The groove side opposite the thread shall be square to the axis of the serew thread,
1.44 RELIEF WIDTH: Tho width ofthe rlif shall be as tabulsted in Tables 1 or 2, Column 4.
1.45 The comer radius connecting the relief root diameter and the groove side which is square with the
anit of the serew throod ehall be 0.5mm plus or minus 0.26mm or 020 plus or minus .010 inch
1.4.8. The comer radius connecting the relief root diameter and the groove sie forming the 45° angle may
be 0.16 to 0.40mm or 005 to .015 inh,
