* Following the clip, class will engage in a brainstorming activity.

Key words which should be included and discussed are.

- Nazi Germany.
- Britain
- Allied forces

- Russia
- Axis Powers.

(NOTE) - Students should have a sound prior knowledge about

the great wars. Year 9 Curriculum includes the study of WWI. But also

factoring in the rise of media and gaming surrounding historical war,

students should have some interesting contributions.

Lesson Steps (Lesson content, structure, strategies & Key

Questions):

Step 1

* Following the brainstorm discussion students are to open their ICT

device such as laptop / computer and are to be directed to the

student learning Weebly page.

http://webquestworldwarii.weebly.com

Student Learning Page

Weebly.
* Students are working through their learning page, investigating
various media and informational content ,to learn about the causes
leading to the beginning of World War II.
* Students have been informed in the prior lesson, that their main
assessment piece will be their personal ThingLink map. They will be
adding content as they progress through the unit and each lesson.
- Students have also signed up for ThingLink and have been
added to the teachers page in the lesson prior.

!3

* The idea is that students will be adding their own annotations of the
information learnt and processed from the student learning page
and create an interactive global map which will include relevant
content and information. Students are reminded to appropriately
reference where relevant.
* Students will begin at the top of the student learning page labeled
introduction and will begin by investigating those resources.
* Later students will move down the page and work through the other
sub-categories.
Teachers Role.
* As the teacher, you will be sharing your knowledge and expertise as
you move around the classroom, helping to facilitate learning and
troubleshoot problems as they arise.
*
9:40

Step 2.

* At the bottom of the student learning page for the lesson, are a
group of focus questions. These questions are provided by the
teacher for students to utilise as direction towards processing
information from the web resources and creating content for their
ThingLink page.

* Teachers Role.
* Students are encouraged to work in what ever mode they feel
comfortable with. For example, they can process and create content
after each media resource and topic, or they can wait until they
have processed all the information.

9:55

* Teacher must ensure that students know they must create content
for their ThingLink page and that this is being done in a timely
manner.

End of class.

Further Learning (homework)

* Students who were not able to complete their additions to ThingLink
are asked to do so for homework before the next lesson.
* In addition to the work covered in class, students are invited to
continue their investigation at home. There are a series of useful
website links which are targeted to various reading and literacy
levels. Students can add extra information to their ThingLink which
could help towards their overall grade for the unit.
