Lesson Steps (Lesson content, structure, strategies & Key

Questions):
Steps 1.
1:05

* Following the introduction video students will open their laptops

and visit the Padlet website.
* As a class students will brainstorm what they thought about the
video and the end of the war.
* The idea of the Padlet brainstorm is to gage prior knowledge on the
Asian - Pacific conflict of WWII and their knowledge of how the war
ended in both Asia and Europe.
* Key words which should be discussed include
- Ethics
- Nuclear warfare
- Nuclear poisoning
- Asia Pacific
(NOTE) - Students should have a sound prior knowledge about the
second world war as this will be the last topic covered in the unit.

Step 2.
1:10

* Students will then be asked to visit the student learning weebly page
where they will follow through viewing the various web resources
http://webquestworldwarii.weebly.com

<- Weebly learning

page

Students work though lesson 4, investigating various media and

informational content to learn about the end of WWII and the effects
the Atomic Bomb had on Japan and the world.
!3

* While students work through the student learning page, they are to
be adding content as they progress. Students will be adding their
own annotations of the information learnt and processed from the
student learning page and should be on their way to completing
their interactive global map on ThingLink website.
* Students will begin at the top of the student learning page for lesson
4 and work their way down the page.
Teachers Role
* As the teacher you will be sharing your knowledge and expertise
around the classroom, helping to facilitate learning and
troubleshooting any problems where necessary.

1:40

Step 3
* At the bottom of the student learning page for the lesson are a
group of focus questions. These questions are provided by the
teacher for students to utilise as direction towards processing
information from the web resources and creating content for their
ThingLink page.
Teachers Role
* Students are encouraged to work in what ever mode they feel
comfortable with. For example, they can process and create content
after each media resource and topic, or they can wait until they have
processed all the information.

1:50

* Teacher must ensure that students know they must create content
for their ThingLink page and that this is being done in a timely
manner.

End of Class

Further Learning (AKA homework)

* Students who were not able to complete their additions to ThingLink
are asked to do so before the next lesson.
* In addition to the work covered in class students are invited to
continue their investigation at home. There are a series of useful
website links which are targeted to various reading and literacy
levels. Students can add extra information to their ThingLink which
could help towards their overall grade for the unit.
* ThingLink assessment will be due the following week. Students
must use their time at home to complete their page, ready for
assessment.
