INTENT OF EXERCISE:

To appreciate the potential of use of landscape in architecture.

INTRODUCTION TO THE PROJECT AND SITE:


The exercise is intent to achieve understanding about potential of landscape for creating ecologically
sustainable development of any project over a site through application of elements and principles of
landscape design.
The exercise will progress through following stages along with expected deliverables to achieve the
target of innovative proposal of content.

PROGRESSION OF EXERCISEAND DELIVERABLES:


Stage 1 - Site Analysis and Vision:
Format of submission The deliverable should be incorporating all the following on 2 No of A3
sheets with proper seal bearing the project name, scale, students detail and geographical details
Deliverables
Obtaining survey plan of the site showing existing built up and open area and special
physical features
On site and off site considerations to analyse constraints and opportunities including site
topography and soil type.
Analysis of intervention and interrelationship between the built up, parking and available
open areas. The analysis must include the views to the built up and from the built up and
privacy or other specific environmental need of built up in terms of shading, ventilation and
day light.
Climatic analysis in terms of sun movement, wind and noise

Stage 2 Conceptual Proposal:


Format of submission The deliverable should be incorporating all the following on 4 No of A3
sheets with proper seal bearing the project name, scale, students detail and geographical details
Deliverables
Providing synthesis and alternative proposal (Site Layout) for the comprehensive
development of proposed site through application of landscape techniques, Elements and
Principles of Landscape Design.
Proposal must include the structuring of site, circulation pattern, lighting, garden furniture,
irrigation, use of building material in landscape etc. Furthermore the concept can be
elaborated with irrigation system, urban farming and rain water harvesting if possible.

Stage 3 Detailed Design Scheme and Final Presentation:


Format of submission The deliverable should be incorporating all the following on 4 No of A3
sheets with proper seal bearing the project name, scale, students detail and geographical details
Deliverables
Providing the complete scheme through site layout, circulation pattern, site cross sections and
views of specific areas showing application of specific techniques, elements and principles.
Working drawings along with views explaining proposal and details of lighting, garden
furniture, irrigation, use of building material in landscape etc.
Proposal should be accompanied with landscape palette showing application of plant material
and landscape resources.
Presentation of the project will be conducted and each proposal should be explained through a
power point presentation of 15 min (Max).
