Document 2: Article: Judicial Branch Uses Checks and Balances

The document signed by Judge Donnelly to

Protestors at JFK airport in New

York City on Saturday night. They were
protesting the deportations of the
people who were trying to get back into
the United States.

stop the deportations Donald Trump called for.

Donald Trumps latest executive order calls for citizens from seven Muslim
countries to be banned from traveling to the United States, even if they live here
and their families are here. However, a federal judge in New York blocked the
deportations across the country of those that were held while trying to enter into
the United States late Saturday night. Donald Trumps order is unconstitutional (it
goes against the constitution) and the judicial branch was not going to let that
happen.

Judge Ann Donnelly of the U.S. District Court in Brooklyn granted a request from
the American Civil Liberties Union to stop the deportations after ruling that if we
were to send the people being held back to their home countries, there was a high
risk that they would be hurt or killed.
