An opportunity for our world: The Baobab superfruit

Have you ever heard of the baobab superfruit ? If you haven't you
probably will soon
For centuries local populations have used all parts of the multipurpose baobab tree as a source for daily food, craft products and
traditional remedy for skin, respiratory, digestive, fever and other
ailments.
We want to bring to the world the benefits of two 100 % ethical and
sustainably wild harvested, raw and organic super ingredients from
the baobab fruit from Madagascar: naturally dehydrated powder
and oil from the seeds.
The powder of the baobab fruit is vitamin-and-mineral-packed and
has incredibly high levels of antioxidants and fibers. The powder is
pale color and has a unique tangy taste described as caramel
pear with subtle tones of grapefruit.

For the past year we conducted intensive research on baobab

powder and oil, market studies, business projections. We
established promising contacts with food, nutraceutics and
cosmetics industries. We collected samples, processed
transformation tests, made baobab jam, cake, juice and
organoleptic parties with friends The result?
All lights are green and now with your support we are ready and
enthusiastic to launch the pilot program.
With your help, we will have the resources to run the first roll-out
and shape it into a sustainable initiative to save the baobab forest,
fight malnutrition and improve the income of thousands of rural
families in order to build better lives for themselves year after year.

The baobab seed oil has a nearly perfect balance of palmitic acid,
oleic and linoleic fatty acid, making it ideal skin for cosmetics. Its
color is light yellow and it has a sleazy nutty smell.

Baobab the tree of life

Did you know that Baobab Adansonia is a genus of eight species of tree, six native to Madagascar, one native to mainland Africa and
one to Australia ? Did you know that Baobab tree can live more than 3,000 years ? Did you know ...

What's the money for ?

Well first the good news is we can achieve this pretty economically.
Second you'll be investing in a great project committed to organic wild plant harvesting & sustainable practices.
Third, you'll be investing in your own health & well-being.
We need your support to make Madagascan baobab powder and oil available to the world. Most importantly, we need to raise funds for
the pilot program.
That means $23,000 to do our first manufacturing run, including fruit sourcing, design and built the processing machinery, phytochemical
and nutrition analyses, packaging and labels. In addition, we need at least $1,500 to cover marketing efforts, storage and sampling costs
for targeted industries; $1500 in legal fees and insurance; and $5,000 to further develop out the sustainable supply chain in South West
of Madagascar and provide education and money to the baobab fruit gatherers.
Altogether, thats $30,000 which is why we need your help.

Baobab Project

What happens if we do not reach the goal ?

If we fail to reach our goal, we proceed anyway. This dream is too big to let one setback kill it. We just won't be able to take it to the level
we desire to, in the time frame we had hoped to...that won't change the outcome. All rewards will be delivered as promised regardless of
the amount raised.

And if the goal is surpassed ?

If we are lucky enough to see our goal being overtaken by your support and the funding provided by all our funders, we have also a bigger
plan. Some steps, that will be "unlocked" gradually.
The baobab oil processing unit / $45,000 (LOCKED)
If we manage to reach $45.000, we aim to use this amount, in order to minimize outsource, and establish in house production by
purchasing press oil and filter to refine. This will lift up our production and provide the equipment to experiment with other seeds from the
unique Madagascan biodiversity flora.
In house manufacturing process / $60,000 (LOCKED)
If the funding continues, exceeds and reaches the amount of$ 60,000, our plan is to organize a bioprospection expedition in the baobab
forests region in order to identify other wild plants that could be sustainabily and economically valorized for nutrition and cosmetic
industries.

What you get ?

It is our hope that you will join with us in this community funding by investing via one of the options presented here. There are numerous
opportunities to contribute and help depending on your interest level. And, obviously, we want to give a little back in return for your support
and help...
Thanks to our partnership with DHL we are able to send you the perks quit economically from Madagascar !

Who we are
In essence we are currently 4 people who share their passion for baobabs and the Madagascan extraordinary nature. We are the
founders of the NGO Pink Forest who is running the Baobab Project. We are committed to protect and valorize this amazing tree: Emeric
Creuse (Project Manager), Vincent Verra (Marketing and communication), Stephane Pelayo (Illustrator and designer) and Sebastien
Wohlhauser (Scientific advisor). We all live in Madagascar since many years and we have professional experiences and complementary
skills to make the baobab project a success.
Our vision is to implement profitable business strategy that combine innovative scientific methods to valorize the Madagascan flora
biodiversity with high social and environment impact. We are devoted to safeguards threatened forest ecosystems and traditions by
giving them mass-market appeal. The baobab project is the first step of a long journey! Join us!
In addition, we work with another handful of people and different organizations and companies who help with various tasks and supports.
Thank you so much to all of them !

Our parteners

The impact
Madagascan forests are under strong human pressure, and are likely to disappear even before having been fully studied. Indeed,
250,000 hectares of Madagascan forests disappear every year which means that if this pace of destruction is maintained the forests will
have completely disappeared in a decade. This will be a catastrophe for Madagascar which is one of the ten most important planet
biodiversity hot spots. The main deforestation reasons are slash & burn for agriculture and pasture, selective or illegal logging for
precious woods or construction material, collection of fuel wood including charcoal production and Clearing for mining.
We are convinced by giving economic value to Non Timber Forest Products lthrough sustainable and innovative forest productive value
chains to improve local communities income, we will participate to alleviate poverty through the creation of supplementary income for the
local communities
By placing an economic value on the baobab fruit, we are encouraging communities to protect their local trees and natural ressources,
which is good for wildlife and biodiversity.
Your support will help to make a real difference to the lives of poor families in very remote areas of Madagascar. The income these
people will earn from harvesting baobab will change their lives and enable them to afford the things we take for granted like healthcare
and education.
