Course Description
This course focus on the basic knowledge for managing the organization through behavior perspective,
structure and design of the organization, and also the process embedded inside. Behavior perspective will
guide us to understand how individual uniqueness will affect behavior. It is also necessary to understand
the impacts of uniqueness to organization in order to achieve their goals and objectives. From the
perspective of organizational structure and design, it is important to understand that a successful
organization is also depends on the ability to design an effective and efficient organization to attain not
only organizational but also individual goals. Lastly, through organizational perspective (culture,
communication, decision making), we can learn how organization can achieve their goals through the
dynamic process.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of the course, students are expected to understand and having the knowledge of
management and organization, able to solve contemporary management and organization problem, and
apply the knowledge into practice.

Learning Method
This course mainly consists of discussion and presentation. Therefore, students are expected to actively
participate in every session. A good preparation before class (reading materials, finishing assignments) is
needed for better understanding of the topics discussed.
Evaluation (remember that grades are earned, not given)
Process of evaluation will be conducted as follows (total of 100% points):

Mid and Final Exam. Exams will be conducted to check students understanding to management
concept discussed in each session. Exam schedule follows MD Program rules.
Presentation. Student in-groups are required to make presentations about the topic discussed in each
session to enhance conceptual understanding of organizational behavior. You are free to use any kinds of
source to enrich your presentation; however a power point slides must be used by presenting team to
deliver their presentation. In addition to classical presentation, you are encouraged to use any other
format of presentation such as role play, participative discussion or experienced based learning at your
creativity.
Discussion and Participation. Students are expected to actively participate in class discussion. A good
process in the class is one that is not dominated by only several persons, but every person must be able to
give equal contribution. Points from participation will be recorded by the Instructor in every session
Individual Assignment. In several sessions, facilitator would ask students to solve thematic challenges to
be discussed in-class.
Rules and Policy
1. Academic Integrity
Faculty of Economics and Business UGM is an education institution committed to develop
educated individuals with academic and personal integrity. Therefore, you are responsible to
understand and comply with all of the rules conducted by the Faculty. Further, with the

emerging concern of Plagiarism, you are not to have the same act. Plagiarism is a serious matter
and university-sanction is applied.
2. Attendance
Attendance will be taken in every session. It is your responsibility to keep up with the material
and stay in touch with your team. Please inform me in advance (by email of phone) if you are
not able to attend the session due to a logic reason. Although there is no penalty for poor
attendance, students who miss class 3 times or less (university-sanctioned absences and others)
without any notification during the whole semester will lost their rights to attend the Final Exam.
Exception is given for those who are sick and needs to be hospitalized (a proof of doctors
recommendation is needed).
3. Several Issues
As a member of the learning community, each student has a responsibility to other person. It is
prohibited for students to use cell phones during scheduled classes. Cell phones must be turned
off or put in a silent mode and cannot be taken out during class. At the discretion of the
facilitator, exception to this issue is possible in special circumstances. Use of personal notebooks
or tablets during class for the purpose of taking notes or other applications consistent with class
objectives is encouraged. However, it is expected that students should respect others and the
instructor by not using notebooks for non-class related activities, such as email, surfing the web
for personal reasons or entertainment, as these uses can distract rather than enhance the learning
environment. The instructor reserves the right to ask students to close their notebooks at any
point during class. This requires that we all listen carefully to each other. Any academic cheating
such as plagiarism will result in obtaining grade E for the course. Students caught sleeping in
class or reading material not related to the subject matter under discussion may be asked to leave.
