Creation Myths

There are many theories as to how life arose on Earth for the first time. It has
never been specifically tested what had happened so that scientists, from the beginning
of time, have tried to find logical solutions to this issue. Similarly, as scientists, the
common man has also tried to explain the origin of life. There are a wide variety of
theories, many based on science, others based on traditions and myths, and the
creationist theory, which is based on faith, which many can also be considered as part of
the mythology. Below are presented several theories of the origin of life, from the
mythological point of view. All these theories are different, but all of them have in
common a superior power or being that is in charge of creating the world, the humans,
animals, and everything that is in this world. All of them also have in common the
supernatural quality; contrary to science, that explains spontaneous generation or
evolution, these mythological theories have a supernatural way of explaining all the
facts.
According to the creationist theory, all the different life forms that occur today
on planet earth have been created by God, the Almighty. This idea is found in the
ancient scriptures of most religions. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Brahma, the
God of Creation, created the world of the living, according to your desire. According to
Christian belief, God created this universe, plants, animals and humans in six calendar
days. Mythology says that all life forms, including human beings are born with a word
of God. The theory of the creation believes that things have not changed significantly
since its inception. Creationists generally believe the biblical account that God created a

number of basic groups of animals and plants, as described in the first part of Genesis.
They believe that while God created each group with the possibility of a fair amount of
variation, which gave birth according to their own kind. By definition, the theory of
creation based on faith is purely a religious concept, acceptable only on the basis of
faith. It has no scientific basis.
The theory of creation according to the Popol Vuh narrates that Tepeu and
Gucumatz are the original parents, which are gods. There was only water and light, then
they created the earth, mountains, valleys, pine forests, divided the day and night, and
created the streams. They then created animals as deer, birds, lions, tigers, snakes, and
guardians of the vines. They gave the animals dwelling in air, land or water. Upon
completion of these animals wanted the praise, but they just squawked, screamed and
cackled. The move from their dwelling places, but they did not speak, and then found
that they were doomed to be killed to eat. Then they decided they had to create man.
First they tried to do it in mud, but could not hold, could not walk nor multiply and
dumped it; then they did of wood, and he spoke and multiplied, but had no memory,
walking aimlessly and on four legs, and didnt have understanding. These men were
destroyed in the flood created by the heart of heaven, and those who were saved became
gnomes. Then the man and woman were made of tzit espaada, and they dont thought
nor spoke. Resin men were killed and were disfigured by the grinding stones as a
punishment for not thinking of their mother or their father. Finally discovered what the
man needed to be made of, then the Yak, Utiu , Quel and Hoh lacked were those who
brought food to the formation of man , which became blood , and so entered the maize

parents work . Men that were created were four: Balam- Quitze , Balam -Acab , Balam
Mahucutah and Iquitos .
Finally , Tano and Caribe theory, according Fray Ramon Pane, in mind with the
Spanish mythology , says that in the province of Caonao were two caves called
Cacibajagua and Amayana . From Cacibajagua left most of the people who settled the
island . These people , they had a guardian because they should not leave that site , but
the keeper failed and turned into stone , and those who left were affected by the sun and
became jobos trees . Guahayona , Yahubaba sent to gather herbs and the sun became
bird singing in the morning. Guahayona decided to leave the cave and told the women
to leave their husbands and children and then return to find them. Guahayona left with
all the women and went in search of other countries , and reached Matinin , left
women there and went to Guann . Children who were without parents were hungry and
could not breastfeed , then became small frogs called tona and all the men were left
alone without women. The men wanted to have women and then one day saw some
beings coming down from the trees that had no sex, and tried to catch them and they
could not , the cacique sent some men with a disease they were told to put
caracaracoles rough skin , and they managed to catch them . Then a bird called inriri
searched and tied the body of these beings, who were tied hand and foot . The bird
began to peck at the place where womens sex is, and so the Indians had women.
