PPDI-Terminated Polycarbonate Prepolymer

ADIPRENE LFP 3940A

PRODUCT DATA

Urethane
Prepolymers

ADIPRENE LFP 3940A is a PPDI-terminated polycarbonate prepolymer

having very low free PPDI content (typical < 0.1%) for easier management
of health and safety during handling. ADIPRENE LFP 3940A yields high
performance 93-96 Shore A hardness elastomers when cured with
VIBRACURE A 250 or HQEE.
The high performance features of ADIPRENE LFP 3940A are due to PPDI
(p-phenylene diisocyanate), a special building block that imparts
exceptional properties to cast polyurethane elastomers. The unique
combination of properties exhibited by PPDI-based prepolymers is superior
to those available from standard prepolymers based on TDI or MDI.
Features of ADIPRENE LFP 3940A include:

Low Free PPDI Content

Excellent hydrolytic stability, oil stability and thermal stability
Long Pour Life
Excellent Dynamics
Good Tensile/Tear Strength
Excellent Resilience

Hygiene
Although ADIPRENE LFP 3940A has a very low level of free PPDI
monomer, this does not eliminate the need to manage health and safety
issues responsibly when handling this product. Impervious gloves and
goggles should be worn. Avoid contact with eyes, skin, and clothing, and
wash thoroughly after handling. Avoid breathing vapor. Use only with
adequate ventilation. In the absence of good ventilation or under
emergency situations, self-contained or air-supplied respiratory protection
is recommended. Before use consult MSDS for ADIPRENE LFP 3940A
for additional information on potential hazards and handling precautions.

Notes:
1. Chemtura VIBRACURE A 250 is specially formulated for PPDI prepolymers to improve
mixing of prepolymer and curative during processing.
2. For best results, the mold should be pre-heated to the recommended temperature. If
the mold cools during handling and casting, it is desirable to preheat it enough above
the cure temperature to allow for its cooling.
3. Allow cast parts to condition for four weeks at room temperature before use.
