3D Foil Laminating
The process of laminating 3D
foils on routed and shaped
wood based materials (mainly
MDF) is predominantly found in
the production of furniture fronts
(kitchen doors, panelled doors,
wardrobe doors) and door panels.
Low viscous, easy to spray dispersions based on polyurethane
(PUR) are primarily used.
They feature:
high temperature resistance
high water and steam
resistance
good adhesion to PVC,
PP, PET and ABS foils
very high green strength

Dispersions on PVAC basis are

used in 3D laminating of veneer
for products such as door panels.

KLEIBERIT PUR Dispersions

KLEIBERIT Supratherm 430
Highly heat resistant 1 component PUR dispersions with built-in hardener. Mixing in of hardener is not required, no pot life concerns. Very
low reactivation temperatures enable use with
all standard foils and especially with high gloss
foils and thin foils which can not tolerate high
activation temperature. Exceptionally high heat
resistance of up to 130C possible for finished
products. Very easy processing with manual
spray guns as well as spraying machines and
robotic applications.

KLEIBERIT Supratherm 432

Cost effective 2 component PUR dispersion with
long pot life. Low reactivation temperature from
55C and high temperature resistance without
hardner 80C, with hardener 110C.
KLEIBERIT Supratherm 436
Premium PUR dispersions for either 1 or 2 component use. Can be used on all foils available
on the market. Very low reactivation temperatures from 50C for excellent results with high
gloss foils and thin foils. Very high temperature
resistance without hardener 90C, with hardener 120C.

KLEIBERIT PVAC Dispersions

KLEIBERIT PVAC Dispersions

Polyurethane dispersions are sprayed onto

the work piece. Due to the porosity, the adhesive is applied twice in the edge and routed
areas. The coat weight on flat surfaces is approx. 50 g/m, and in the edges and routed
areas approx. 100 g/m. The pieces can be
placed into the membrane or vacuum press
after approx. 30 to 60 minutes drying time
(depending on ambient temperature and humidity, until complete drying).
The adhesive is reactivated with the pressure
and the temperature, and the foil is laminated
onto the work piece.

KLEIBERIT 303
Suitable for veneer bonding
High quality bond, D3 in accordance
to DIN/EN 204
Good water and steam resistance
High green strength to counter
act high material memory immediately
after press opening

MDF or Chipboard
Improvement
To improve coarsely porous MDF and chipboard, the edges can be pre-treated with
KLEIBERIT 555.6.
KLEIBERIT 555.6 can be applied with a
roller or by spraying and can be stacked for
curing without sticking together. After curing,
a smooth, closed surface area can be produced through sanding.

With veneer bonding the adhesive is usually

applied to the veneer (with a roller or an applicator). The veneer is also slightly dampened to avoid veneer cracking or breakage
while pressing. The veneer is then placed
onto the work piece immediately after the
adhesive is applied, and the piece is then
placed into the membrane press.
