At the end of this activity, you will be competent in appraising the effectiveness of
display boards as learning resources.

Your Map
Display boards, or what we more commonly refer to as bulletin board, is one of
the most readily available and versatile learning resources.
To reach your target, follow these steps:
Step 3: Propose enhancements to
make the display more effective.
Step 2: Pick one and evaluate the display.
Step 1: Look around a school for bulletin board
displays.

An Observation Guide for the BULLETIN BOARD DISPLAYS


Read the following statements carefully before you observe.
Go around the school and examine the board displays. How many board displays
do you see?
Where is the display boards found? Are they in places where target viewers can
see them?
What are the displays about? What images and colors do you see? How are the
pieces of information arranged?
What materials were used in making the displays? Are borders used?
Do you notice some errors? (misspelled words, grammar inconsistencies and the
like)
Are the messages clear and easily understood?
You may choose to take a photo of the display board (if allowed)

In my observation in the school, I saw bulletin boards in different
areas. Each subject has its own. I looked for Mathematics board, found in
their Math Center. There bulletin is about concept of Mathematics,
composed of images at the information arranged based on the idea. It
made up of colored papers, printed materials, and borders that
combination of color green. If you see it you can easily read the message

Yes, the language is written in English but it is in low level of the words
which can understand by the junior high school.

What do you think was the purpose of the board display? Was it effective? Why? or
Why not?
I think the purpose of the display board are to caught the attention of
the students and realize that math subject is interesting one. It is also
effective as I saw some students read it and the curiosity in their face.

What suggestions can you make?


I think the content must be balance. As it is one of the important characteristics of
an effective display board.

Theme: The wonder of Mathematics.

Rationale:
These bulletin Board is for the students to give attention, curiosity,
appreciation, and even love the Mathematics subject.
Objectives:
To teach students that Mathematics is a beautiful and interesting
subject.
Best features of my proposed Bulletin enhancement:
Different example of unique graphs and trivia.
Content resources:
The display shall contain pictures depicting the following content
resources:
Graph-The graphical presentation of a equation.
Trivia- Interesting about the Mathematics
Materials for aesthetic enhancement:
Pictures, Print outs of concepts, colored papers, styropore, glue and glue.

board displays. Elaborate on why each skill is needed.
The teacher should possess the following to come up with the effective
board display:

Resourcefulness- he/she should use available resources rather than

Creativity- he/she must be creative in a way that its unique and
picture out the concept.
Ingenuity- he/she allows students to solve problems in the display
board.
Innovativeness- he/she must produce new ideas for the students

Which of the skills do you already have? Recall your past experiences in making
board displays. How do you practice these skills?
The skills that I already have are ingenuity, resourcefulness,
creativity, and elegance. I've experienced making this in my FS subject, and I
am practice this skills since I worked on it.

Which skills do you still need to develop? Reflect on how you can improve on or
acquire these skills.
I think I need to develop more innovative that the students can
acquire new and interesting ideas. I can improve on these skills by searching
and making new interesting ideas which is unique for them.
