Thus, only the board VDS 333 Ox is included. The board VDS 333 Ox includes the complete control forthe shutter motor for operating the clap valve. 1. Basic information ‘The command for closing or opening the shutteris given by the EAS! interface. Any desired occlusion time can be set via PC; in our example it is 100 ms. ‘The voltage diagram for an occlusion looks like the following: Vneror Frequencyf = 25 kz Clock rate 10 % 100 9 aes c aaa z Asa igh torque is required for accelerating the clap valve when it is closed (B) and opened (D), the motoristo be triggered with its nominal voltage of 12 VDC for20 ms each. During this period of time the flap also strikesthe stop Itis breaked mechanically in orderto avoid bouncing atthe stop. As the valve hasto be completely tight during the occlusion, the motor has to be kept alive with a pulse duty factor of 10 % during this phase (C) 2. Execution ‘The shutter is controllable in two operating modes via the optocoupler U1 (6N137).. a) input E- to Gnd, + is controlled with active" H. b) Input E+ to positive voltage, E-is controlled with active? L. The control current is limited by the FET BF 245 B. * "active" means that the shutter is to be closed or is to be kept close. In General ‘The ambient unit includes one sensor each for temperature, relative humidity and the current barometric pressure. Every 20 seconds, the analog data is digitized and intermediately stored with the help of an A/D converter. The serial interface (RS 232) outputs the stored values. ‘The heart of the ambient unit is the IC U 14, a signal processor with the following characteristics: ~ 12 bit A/D converter with 4 inputs (At... A4) - Programmable constant current source -LOD-driver fora 56-segment display -EEProm for program storage TSS 400 Standard Interpreter Language 2. Temperature sensor B2(TSP102J) From the signal processor TSS 400 the temperature sensor is supplied by a programmable constant current. 3. Humidity sensor B1(HPRMQ-M3) A resistive humidity resistance is used as humidity sensor. Depending on the humiity, the sensor changes its resistance value. The sensor is supplied by an AC voltage (1200 Hz) which is generated by BS, U12, U6 on the digital board. The AC voltage which depends on the humidity is rectified via the diode V3 and supplied tothe AD converter. The system requires, that from a humidity of ~50%, the linearity has to be corrected by the relay K1 and RS. 4. Barometric pressure sensor B3(MPX 2100) The sensor is supplied by the constant current source U1 (LH0070). Its signal amplifies U2 (LM 324) before it reachesthe A/D converter. 5. RS 232 interface Itis realized by the component parts U2, U6 ... U8, U10 and U13. Aerosol meansa gas volume with floating particles. ‘The aerosol is produces by nebulization of compressed air (jet nebulization) of a pharmacologic substance. Any desired substance can be used, but it has to be water-soluble. Thus, the use of the APS is not only limited to the bronchoprovocation, even though this is currently the main field of application. In orderto meet the great demands on quality, a constant compressed air supply is to be guaranteed when using this system. The standardly integrated compressor is designed for meeting the requirements of most of the nebulizer manufacturers (6-8 l/min). If higher working pressures are required, an extemal compressed air supply (up to 3 bars) can be adapted. The APS system differs from all other provocation systems by the following: Flowivolume-triggered contro! Lowdeadspace volume High safety standard Easy hygiene Sens Please note: From software version 4.2x the system is supported by the "Bronchial Test" program.
