1. Obtain copies of job descriptions for clerical positions at the college or university
where you study, or the firm where you work. What types of information do they
contain? Do they give you enough information to explain what the job involves and
how to do it? How would you improve on the descriptions?
*I wasnt able to find a job description specifically from NEU. Please forgive me
Maam for taking this from the internet. :)*

It generally contains the tasks, responsibilities, and the requirements for the
position. Yes, it gave me enough of what is needed to describe what the job
really is and what is needed for the job. As a teacher, there are really a lot more
duties that a teacher must do. Using S.M.A.R.T., the company should add more
in connection with the faculty and staff members.

2. In a company with only 25 employees, is there less need for job descriptions? Why
or why not?
Yes, it is necessary even for a company with only 25 employees. Job
descriptions basically shows the duties, tasks, and responsibilities of a position in
the company. In this situation, even though the company is small, there is still the
great need for it. Best example is who should and shouldnt answer the
telephone. Should A answer the call or B is the one responsible for answering?
Will A be overstepping Bs boundary when A answers the call? Its a simple
situation but when trouble comes, who then will be liable for the latter?
3. Explain how you would conduct a job analysis.

Involve employees by having them complete job analysis forms.

Interview employees, asking them specific questions about their job duties and
responsibilities.

Obtain log sheets from employees with information about each of their tasks and
the time spent on each task for at least one full work week.

Complete desk audits where you observe employees doing their jobs at different
times of the day and days of the week and track what they do and for how long.

Interview supervisors and managers, and other employees, clients and

customers the employee may interact with while performing the job.

Compare the job to other jobs in the department as well as the job grade or job
family to show where it falls on the pay scale.
