House Points System

We are going to introduce a House Points system in the entire

school. Students are grouped into four House teams: House of
Unity, House of Happiness, House of Leadership, House of
Creativity. These are based on our school learning model and each
has a crest and a motto designed by students. Each motto
contains 3 words. These 3 words stand for the values representing
the house. One is character strength, one is moral strength, and
the last one relates to creativity.

The houses are the main focus for friendly, light-hearted student
competition in a wide range of school activities, including
academics, sports, and extra-curricular activities. Many student
activities throughout the year are organized by Houses to
promote the broadest possible participation from Grades 1 -12. All
teachers at ASCS are assigned to the Houses.
Students at ASCS will celebrate their triumphs by earning House
Points (HPs) under a positive reward system that measures
student participation on school activities. Students my earn HPs
for a range of contributions to school life, including academics
athletics, art, values, community service and cleanliness or good
housekeeping.
Students are rewarded with House Point Certificates for
individually earned HPs. Students will have their HPs recorded in
the Student Planner. There are prizes at the end of each term for
students who have been awarded the most HPs.
Bronze 150 HPs = Gift Pack
Silver 350 HPs = Adventure Land Card (100 AED Credit)
Gold 750 HPs = Leisure Trip

Platinum 1000 HPs = Tablet

At the school assembly each week, the House with the most
points is awarded the House Cup, which will be displayed at
Reception.
Students can earn HPs for exemplary behavior, performance,
understanding or participation in all aspects of school life. HPs
are intended as a reward, rather than a guarantee so they must
be distributed sparingly in the following cases:
1 HP Continually good answers, behavior, participation,
performance, or content of work.
2 HPs Continually outstanding answers, behavior, participation,
performance or content of work.
3HPs Continually exceptional answers, behavior, participation,
performance, or content of work.
Star of the week
At the end of each week, a star will be chosen from each
class by the homeroom teacher. The choice should be made
based on exemplary academic or social behavior during the week.
It should also be made in coordination with all of the teachers of
that class. The star of the week will be announced by the
homeroom teacher during assembly. As a reward, Star of the
week winners will receive 5 House Points.
100% Attendance Attendance will be monitored throughout the year and those
students who complete a full term without any absences will be
rewarded with a small prize and certificate. Teachers are
encouraged to remind students about their attendance
throughout the term. The class with the best overall attendance in
a term will receive the title trophy.
Other In-Class Rewards
Teachers are permitted and encouraged to implement their
own in-class rewards systems to aid classroom and behavior
management. This could focus on individual rewards or whole
class rewards. The prize for receiving such rewards should be
decided and organized by the teacher and could include, but are

not limited to, class treat (nonfood items such as pencils, erasers,
note books, etc.), first in line for a week.
