ABE Essay
I was never a kid that hoped from school to school. I was pretty constant in what schools
I attended. I have only been to 4 schools in my whole life elementary, middle, high school and
college. 1st-6th grade I attended Falcon Ridge Public Charter School. This school was literally
made out of 6 long mobile homes with a wall between them. One mobile home would be 2 class
rooms. There was no playground just 2 or 3 acers of dirt and patches of grass. My 7th and 8th
grade year I attended Kuna middle school, this school was bigger than the other schools I
attended. This school was packed and the hallways were like sardines compacted in a container.
My last 3 years I went to Kuna high school. These schools all had different environments. Each
school taught me that not all kids work at the same pace, and not all learn the same way. My
current level of education is a high school diploma and some college. My senior year in high
school I did a special education program; I took the certified nursing assistant course. I am also
CPR and first aid certified. My education has contributed to my development as a professional
educator, because it taught me that it does not matter what the outside of a school looks like if I
put my full effort in it will pay off in the end
I personal have not had that much work experience; my parents said school was my first
priority. My first job I have ever had was typical, I was a nanny over the summer my 9th grade
year. I worked every day from 7am to 4 pm. I took care of a 4 and 7-year-old. This job was one
of them I enjoyed, but there were obviously hard part that came with the job. I had to make the
kids breakfast, lunch and occasionally dinner if the parents got home late. The mom wanted their

rooms cleaned every week, this was the hard part. Making a kid pick up their toys and dirty
clothes when they could be outside playing is hard. Basically, my daily tasked was I clean up our
mess, washed the dishes, and helped clean their room. My Second Job was outside, I worked at
my next door neighbors farm on the weekend. This job made me realize farming is hard work! I
had to wake up bright and early on the weekends, drag myself out of bed, to go pick rocks,
shovel manure, and pull weeds. I did this job off and on whenever my neighbor needed me. The
last job I worked at was McDonalds. This job was pretty fun, I worked the cashier, put the food
in the bags, and worked the drive through. The great thing about this job was my friends worked
with me, and they were flexible on my hours. My work experience has taught me that I can deal
with things that get thrown at me.
Extra-curricular activities was a big part of my high school life. In high school I was
cheerleader except my senior year. I was also part of FFA, and BPA for a year. Currently, I am a
ASCSI Senator. Being a part of all these clubs you had to stand up and be a leader show an
example. We were supposed to be students that represented our schools. A teacher is supposed to
be someone that students can look up to and not fear. These extra-curricular activities have
contributed to my development as a professional educator because they have showed me
qualities that I would have never learned without these clubs pushing me.
I first considered an education career 3 years ago in High School. I was in my
fundamental of health professions class and I absolutely loved my teachers method of teaching.
She never just stood up and read off the board she would get involved and show us examples. I
do not want to be an ordinary teacher that is going to stand up and give a lecture I want to
involve the students. One other career I was serious about majoring in was nursing. I took a
couple college classes in high school for nursing like my CNA and Med terms. Soon I realized

that I was not fit to be a nurse. By the end of high school, I knew I did not want to become a
nurse but I knew I wanted to become a teacher! I want to become a teacher because of the couple
of great teacher I had in the past. I think that not only would I enjoy it but I think I will be good
at it. I want to help kids get a passion for what they want to do in life. Some reward I anticipate is
smile and laughter of students and that moment when the light clicks in a kids mind about a
problem.
My long-term goals for my career are to get my Bachelors in teaching and go on to get
my masters. I intend on finishing my associates in elementary Ed at CSI then move on to my
Bachelors at BSU. I plan to work a couple of years, and go back to get masters. My Short-term
goals is to take college one day at a time and get through this first year of college with flying
colors.
