PROTECTED FROM CORROSION AT ALL TIMES. ALL TAPPED HOLES SHALL BE
PROTECTED BY SUITABLE PLUG UNTIL USED. THE ANCHORAGE DEVICES
SHALL BE KEPT FREE FROM MORTAR, LOOSE RUST, GREASE, TAR, PAINT,
OIL, MUD OR ANY OTHER COATING.

CONCRETE COVER TO STEEL BARS, UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED,

DESIGN OF CONCRETE MIX SHALL MEET THE DESIGN CONCRETE


STRENGTH GIVEN UNDER ITEM 1 OF MATERIALS.

CONCRETE SHALL BE DEPOSITED, VIBRATED AND CURED IN ACCORDANCE


WITH THE SPECIFICATIONS.

FOR CONCRETE DEPOSITED AGAINST THE GROUTED, LEAN CONCRETE


WITH A MINIMUM THICKNESS OF 50mm. SHALL BE LAID FIRST BEFORE
PLACING THE REINFORCEMENT, THIS LEAN CONCRETE SHALL NOT BE
CONSIDERED IN MEASURING THE STRUCTURAL DEPTH OF THE CONCRETE
SECTION.

BAR BENDING, SPLICING AND PLACING


THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT TO THE ENGINEER FOR APPROVAL OF
SHOP DRAWINGS INDICATING THE BENDING, CUTTING, SPLICING AND
INSTALLATION OF ALL REINFORCING BARS. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL
CALCULATE THE EXACT CUTTING LENGTH OF STEEL BARS USING WELL
KNOW FORMULA (SUCH AS BS 8666, 2005 FOR INSTANCE)

BARS SHALL BE BENT COLD, BARS PARTIALLY EMBEDDED IN CONCRETE


SHALL NOT BE FIELD BENT UNLESS PERMITTED BY THE ENGINEER.

UNLESS APPROVED BY THE ENGINEER. NO SPLICES SHALL BE PERMITTED


ON BEAMS AND GIRDERS WHERE CRITICAL BENDING MOMENT OCCURS.

TENSION AT LEAST 125% OF THE SPECIFIED YIELD STRENGTH OF THE BARS
NOT MORE THAN 50% OF THE BARS OF ANY SECTION SHALL BE PERMITTED
TO BE SPLICED.

FORMWORK SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED SUCH THAT IT WILL NOT YIELD UNDER


THE CONTEMPLATED LOAD AND SHALL BE SUCH AS TO AVOID THE
FORMATION OF FINS AT INTERSECTION OF SURFACES. ALL CORNERS OF
CONCRETE STRUCTURES SHALL BE CHAMFERED TO AT LEAST 20 mm
EXCEPT RAILINGS AND RE-ENTRANT ANGLES WHICH SHALL BE SHORING
AND FILLETED 20mm RESPECTIVELY, UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED ON THE
PLANS. ALL EXPOSED CONCRETE SURFACES SHALL HAVE A SMOOTH
FINISH AND TRUE TO LINES, SHAPES AND DIMENSIONS SHOWN ON THE
DRAWING, STRIPPING OF FORMS AND SHAPES SHALL BE AS DESIGNATED
BY THE ENGINEER, THE FOLLOWING MAY BE USED AS A GUIDE FOR
STRIPPING OF FORMS AND SHORES.

CONSTRUCTION LIMITS
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL WORK WITHIN THE CONSTRUCTION LIMITS OR
EASEMENTS OF THE BRIDGE STRUCTURE, IT IS THE INTENT OF PLANS TO
LEAVE UNDISTURBED EVERYTHING WHICH DOES NOT ADVERSELY AFFECT
THE FINISHED WORK. ALL AREAS DISTRIBUTED BY CONSTRUCTION SHALL
BE RESTORED TO THEIR ORIGINAL CONDITION AT THE CONTRACTORS
