Diary for Animation Creation

23/01/17 Session 1
Aim: Login and check emails, save my ILP and start my diary and sources document. I will need
to start my mini project in Flash and complete the diary alongside. I will then begin to put my
animation together.
Evidence: Firstly, I will need to save the mini project files to my workspace from Moodle. I will
then open up flash professional and make sure I have set it to ActionScript 3.0 and I will check
for 12 fps. I will then import my photos into Flash by going to file > import and then import to
library.

I will now make sure that all my graphics are the right size by clicking on them. They are all 640 x
480. I will now go into the properties tap to check that the stage size is set to the same size of the
graphics im using. I have now set the view size to 50% so I can use off stage area as well.

I am now going to add introductory text to the start of my animation. To do this I clicked on the
text icon to the right on the toolbar, I then changed the colour to pink and clicked to the left
hand side of the stage. I then typed in my text and made each word so it was on a separate line. I
then clicked off the text, selected the cursor and reselected the text box. I then right clicked the
text boxed and made sure I converted the text to a symbol. The next stage is to drag the text
from the library to the top centre off stage. I then created a tween on my text by right clicking
and clicking create motion tween.

I will then drag my text image down to the bottom of the stage so that an animation has been
created. To make my text be shown for around 4 seconds on stage I took the intro frame 12 and
dragged it to the 50 frames mark. The next stage is to create a new layer and I then renamed it to
something like Graphics. I then right clicked on the frame 50 and selected insert blank key
frame.

I will now need to ensure key frame 50 is selected, hold down shift and click on key frame 96. I
will then go onto modify > timeline and convert to blank key frames. The next stage is to drag my
all my entire graphics onto each key frame. When the animation is played, all 46 graphics should
be seen. I will now make a new layer to add my music onto the animation; this layer will be called
music.

I will now select my last key frame, right click, and insert key frame. I will now drag the Cbeebies
music clip onto the stage area. I selected a frame a few frame down on the music layer and
inserted a key frame. I will now make another layer called credits, click on frame 55 and insert
key frame and drag my Cbeebies graphic onto the stage. I then positioned it to the top centre of
my stage.

I will right click the logo, covert it to symbol and rename it logo.

Victoria Holt

I will now insert a key frame at 90 frames and move my graphic to the centre bottom of the stage
I then right clicked the image and selected create classic tween. I then made sure that my logo
and music finished at the same time by extending my tweens. I had to work out where the music
clip should end. The last thing was to create a new key frame at 34 frame and then I dragged the
music clip to the frame. The last thing to do was publish my animation.

I have now began to start creating my own animation. I will firstly take all my 360 pictures. Below
are some photos taken of me taking my images for my animation.

Next, I will collect the sound clips for my soundtrack which include the Cbeebies theme tune and
my chosen happy nursery rhyme. I will do this by opening up Adobe Flash and create a file called
Snowman animation. The next stage is to look for my song on YouTube, which I had researched
in the last assignment. I will then download it from YouTube using convert2mp3.

I will now open up Flash and set it up in a similar way to how I did for the mini project
above. I will then start by changing the frame rate per second to 12 and the stage size to
640 x 480. I will make sure I set up the animation size correctly. As I go along, I will keep
saving my progress so I do not risk losing any work.

I will now import the animation photos as well as the mp3 song file Ive chosen and the
Cbeebies theme tune into Flash along with my voiceovers so I have them in my stage ready
for putting together my animation. To do this I will go to file > import > import to stage
making sure its on my graphics layer. Once I have done this, I renamed the layer to graphics.
All my graphics now appear in different frames on the graphics layer of the timeline.
I am now going to add a new layer for my opening credits text. I then clicked the text icon
from the toolbar and typed in the name of my animation. I placed it at the bottom of my
stage. I will now convert to symbol for my text by right clicking on the text. I then right
clicked and selected create motion tween.

Learnt: In this session, I learnt how to add opening and closing credits to the animation in
Adobe Flash. I also managed to import the stop frame graphics into Flash for my animation.
24/01/17 Session 3 + 4
Aim: In this session, I will continue to make progress putting my animation together.
Evidence: The first thing I need to do is check that all my unwanted graphics are deleted from
my animation to do this I will simple highlight them > right click and delete frames.

The next step is to add my ending credits. To do this I will make a new layer and create a
textbox like the one I did for my opening credits. I then typed in the credits for the end of
my animation. I placed it at the bottom of my stage. I cant use the same technique as I did
for my opening credits as it didnt work. Instead, I had to copy and paste the frame onto
each new key frame and move it slightly each time.

The next step is to add the opening and closing Cbeebies music so it is the same length as
the text lasts. To do this I will create a new layer and rename it music. I then right clicked on
the first frame and then clicked on insert new key frame. I will then go to file > import to
library to make my music clips and voiceovers appear in the library.

The next step is to click on the frame and insert a keyframe, where I want my music clip to
finish and the music sine wave will appear. I will firstly have to crop my Cbeebies theme
tune down so that it is only 3 seconds long. To do this I will highlight the parts I want to get
rid of and click delete. I will now need to reimport this to my animation.

As I didnt want my Cbeebies tune to completely stop before my chosen music starts, I
decided to edited all my sound clips in audacity before importing the sound file into Flash
again. I followed the same process as I did above. I also made the sound volumes correct in
audacity before importing them; to do this I changed the volume at the side.
I am now going to add the Cbeebies image by adding a new layer and renaming it Cbeebies
Logo. I will then insert a new key frame and drag my graphic into the correct place on the
stage. Firstly I will open up the Cbeebies logo graphic in Paint to get rid of the white
background so it looks better on my animation. To get rid of it I will use the magic wand tool
to select the areas I want to delete. After editing my image in Paint, I decided to use the
original picture as it actually looked clearer.

Learnt: In this lesson I learnt how to move the text in an upwards movement using a copy
and paste method as the other way did not work.
26/01/17 Session 1 + 2
Aim: In this session, I will continue to make progress putting my animation together. I will
add the rest of my voiceovers as well as the Cbeebies logo.
Evidence: I am now going to import my voiceovers in the same way as the sound clips. I am
then going to insert a new key frame to add the sound in the right place on a new layer.
Before I do this, I will need to make the frames longer where the characters will talk, this
will make the character stand still while talking. To do this I will simply go through the
images to find the places where the characters talk and I will then drag the frame. I will then
import my sound clip voiceovers and follow the same method as adding the sound clip.

As I have put all my animation together now, I am going to add my sound clip, which will run
throughout the animation and will be quieter than the voiceovers. Firstly, I edited my sound
clip in audacity to make it the correct length and changed the volume to 36db. I did this with
the volume changer at the side of the sound waves. I then cropped down my sound clip by
highlighting the part I wanted to delete and just simply deleted it. I then went to the effects
tab to add a fade out effect to the end of my sound clip.

The last thing I need to do is to publish and export my animation project. To do

this I will go to file > publish settings to make sure that it saves as a SWF file
format. I will then click publish. Altogether my animation lasts for around 42.8
seconds.
Learnt: I learnt how to add voiceovers onto my animation and publish it.
