Dear Parents:
want to provide you with another update about the work that continues to take place at Nichols
10 identify and correct any possible conditions that may be causing the health-related concerns
reported by some Nichols staif members.
Tarrant County Public Health has completed their initial study of current environmental
conditions and the health-related concerns reported by staff.
TCPH staff reviewed actions performed to date by the distiet, reports on indoor air q
assessments and a mold assessment performed by two independent industrial laboratories,
reports from the Arlington Fire Department for calls they made to the school, and a report from
the Environmental Protection Agency summarizing their review of AISD’s environmental
protocols and actions specific to health-related concerns reported by Nichols staff. Additionally,
TCPH staff reviewed reports submitted by Nichols staff members, interviewed staff members
and analyzed thet information,
Based on their study, TCPH has not found a specific cause for the continuing health-related
coneems reported by staff and current observations do not warrant evacuating the building, They
also found thatthe district is appropriately addressing the concerns and should continue to
‘monitor the building and concerus of stalf members and to respond as conditions warrant.
‘The district will continue the process of air balaneing and inspecting the school’s HVAC systems
for optimal operation and efficiexcy. The indoor sir quality ofthe building will also be evaluated
by an independent industrial hygiene firm. The district is continuing to work diligently to
identify and correct any possible conditions that may be causing the health-related concerns
reported by some Nichols staff members.
