Method of adjusting color displacement (sub scanning and main scanning)

Detail:
If there is color displacement not within the image standard, perform
the following Servicing Work. This operation is effective for color
displacement both in the sub scanning and main scanning directions.

<Cause>
1.ITB meanders in the direction from the front to the rear
2.Uneven rotation speed of ITB
3.Thermal expansion of the laser scanner assembly due to temperature increase in the machine.

<Factory Measures>
1. The failure due to the cause 1 or 2 was corrected with Dcon software.
- Measures have been taken from initial products of new iR ADV C9280/9270/7280/7270/7260 series.
Dcon ver.1.27 or later (System ver.10.23 or later)
- Measures have started to be taken in the middle of production of old iR ADV C9075/9070/90/9065/9060/7065/
7055 series.
Dcon ver.66.05 or later (System ver.70.09 or later)

* Correct the failure due to the cause 3 by following "Flowchart for color displacement adjustment" found in
Servicing Work.

Caution:
Only in case of old iR ADV C9075/9070/90/9065/9060/7065/7055 series:
-In order to extract maximum effect from the measures of Dcon ver.66.05, it is desirable to take the measures
against mottled blank on image provided in the past.
(The measures against mottled blank provided in the past)
1. Measure against mottled blank on image occurred when using papers of rough surface (Ref. No.: F2-T01-
N09-10014-05)
2. Measure against mottled blank on image occurred when using papers of rough surface (Reduction in the
pressure of the primary transfer roller) (Ref. No.: F2-T01-N09-10033-03)

Servicing Work:
*Regarding new iR ADV C9280/9270/7270/7260 series, the steps 1 and 2 have already been taken in the
factory, so perform only the step 3.

Step 1
1. Check whether the state of the ITB cleaner is correct or not.
a. Check to see that the positioning boss for attaching the ITB cleaner
is not run on.
If it runs on, reassemble the ITB cleaner correctly.
b. Check to see that the lubricant for the blade (powder Tospearl lube)
is applied to the entire blade.
If the lubricant comes off, replace the blade.

2. Check to see that the spring for the version for the measure against

mottled blank has been correctly installed.
a. Check the color of the tension spring.
b. Check the color of the primary transfer roller spring
If an inappropriate spring is attached, replace it with the correct
spring.
If the method of attaching the spring is faulty, correct it.

* For the details of checking method, see "Check Items" below.

Step 2
Upgrade Dcon software (system software) to the latest version.
A countermeasure version for old iR ADV C9075/9070/9065/9060/7065/7055 series is Dcon ver.66.05 or later
(System ver.70.09 or later).

Step 3
If the symptom has not improved by performing the steps 1 and 2, adjust image by following "Flowchart for
color displacement adjustment".

Step 2
Upgrade the DC controller software (system software) to the latest version.
* As of February 2012, the latest version is Dcon v64.01 (System v67.01)

Step 3
Perform adjustment of image according to 'Color Displacement Correction
Flow' below and check the image with test PG after adjustment (TYPE=6:
grid).

<Supplementary information>
As described in Color Displacement Correction Flow, Dcon v36.02 has the measure against color displacement
in the main scanning direction. After powering on early in the morning, if displacement of color becomes large
by the noon, install Dcon v36.02.

[Modifications made to Dcon v36.02]

Because of the influence of temperature characteristics of laser scanner unit, if the temperature inside the
machine becomes low or high, color displacement occurs in the main scanning direction. The modification of
this failure was made.

To the existing Service Mode, new option items were added in order to optimize the execution of auto
registration adjustment according to the temperature inside the machine.
These new option items make it possible to work the temperature environment control when the setting of
Service Mode (Lv2) > COPIER > Option > FEED-SW > PINT-REG is set to a value between "1" and "3" below.

2: Temperature condition inside the machine or 600 images
3: Temperature condition inside the machine or 1000 images
4: 2000 images
