COUNCIL HIGHLIGHTS January, 2017
The St. Johns council tied up all the loose ends
for 2016 and the Annual Meeting at their January
monthly meeting.
The council reviewed the reconciliation of the
General Fund for 2016 and approved in a unanimous
roll call vote. Nominations for elected offices were
reviewed with two candidates still needed for council.
The council was reminded that those elected to
leadership positons must be voting members and pass
a background check.
Ron Lofgren found three unresolved choices in
the constitution. They were discussed and the choices
were all approved. Both audits were reviewed with
several recommendations approved by the council
including adhering to the Synod schedule for Records
Retention and an inventory of safe contents.

evening, Feb. 7, @ 6:40 pm for
A Dogs Purpose. All tickets are $5 on
Tuesdays. We will go to Kings Party Room
after the movie for a chat about the movie.

many other individuals, businesses,
organizations, and congregations have given
gifts which have made a huge difference in
providing a financial foundation as we continue
in our sixth year of campus ministry in Norfolk.
Please know that we are very grateful for all
of your support that you have given throughout
the years. This most current gift of
$473.75 on January 16, 2017, will change lives.
Your gift is an answer to prayer, as it translates
into providing a pastoral ministry presence
among those students who are seeking to grow
more deeply into Jesus Christ and the
community which bears his name, so that they
may discover and fulfill their vocations as
disciples.
The 2017 Spring Semester is underway for
UNMC & NECC students, even though some
wintry weather has canceled classes some days
& hours. Some students are new on campus,
some have returned, and some left half way
through the year to pursue other options in their
lives. This past Monday, a room full of students
from a variety of programs gathered together for
Christ-centered conversation, and discussed a
variety of upcoming events we will be a part of,
such as Pillar of Fire and the Youth
Philanthropy Contest. Through these
conversations, we make connections with God
and Gods people. By being a constant presence
where students can come visit with me and share
in Bible study and Christian community with
other students, college-aged people can talk
through all of the challenges that they are facing
as they discern what it is that God is truly
calling them to do with their lives. It is a joy to
be able to be their campus pastor during their
time at college in Norfolk.
